The Assistant General Manager is the final step in preparing an individual with the skill sets and experiences necessary to eventually operate a base independently, as a General Manager. The Assistant GM will be expected to help maintain an acceptable site safety performance, industry leading customer service focus and financial performance target of the FBO facility. He/She is responsible for adhering to the compliance of all rules, regulations, and policies as issued by Atlantic Aviation, the local Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration, and all other regulatory authorities. He/She is responsible for understanding all aspects of the FBO including proper delivery of services, condition of physical plant, personnel staffing, necessary equipment and required maintenance of same. The Assistant GM will help to support all aspects of the business, to include an understanding of their role in maintaining existing business and developing new business by monitoring margins, negotiating fuel and/or hangar agreements and to engage in problem resolution with customer and employee base.

Responsibilities
Operations:
  • Become proficient in Inventory Management to include fuel operations, quality control & record keeping, and environmental compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to standards pertaining to the maintenance and upkeep of the FBO ramp, facilities and equipment to the best of your ability.
  • Maintain ATA 103 Requirements
  • Become familiar with both centralized and local vendor agreements as well as Use and Occupancy Agreements, Tenant Leases, OFAC & other compliance related responsibilities.
  • Be aware of & monitor contracts with Third Party Service Providers such as Hotels, Caterers, Taxi, Limo and Rental Car
  • Monitor traffic on ramp and assist when needed. This may require working in shift periodically.
  • Develop knowledge of the Airport Master Leases and Minimum Standards to ensure compliance.
Safety and Training:
  • Assist as the Safety Officer of the base, ensuring compliance to Safety Culture, Audits, Annual Inspections, Recurrent Training, and SOP compliance.
  • Partake in regular Safety Briefings to ensure constant engagement with safety and awareness.
  • Assist and ensure the Safety of all Employees, Customers and Property
  • Champion and oversee local safety team for quality assurance inspections, safety hazards and infractions.
  • Be prepared to handle emergencies including Airport Emergency Procedures and providing medical aid as required.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the Administration of the Tow Certification Program as well as ACE Line Training
Business Development and Customer Relations:
  • Become familiar with customer segmentation.
  • Review comment cards as received. Asist General Manager to continually develop and improve procedures and increase customer loyalty.
  • Gain knowledge and understand margins for fuel negotiations,
  • Review existing hangar agreements and assist the General Manager to monitor customer contracts for compliance, rate adjustments, renewals, etc.
  • Gain full understanding of the base customer composition. Obtain full understanding of the hangar yield analysis. Work with the General Manager to identify revenue opportunities.
  • Support absolute, seamless Customer Service to develop and maintain productive customer relationships and foster brand loyalty.
  • Engage in developing relationships with the Airport Authority, local municipalities, and aviation community.
Financial:
  • Review labor costs, staff scheduling and employee turnover rates for better understanding of the effects to the base and the financials.
  • Work towards full understanding of Accounts Payables, Receivables, Recurring Invoices, Collections and Procurement.
  • Assist in local and corporate inventory reconciliation procedures to gain full knowledge of procedures and expectations.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual operating budget and gain a thorough understanding of goals and objectives.
  • Achieve comprehension of the Authorization for Expenditures (AFE's) for capital improvements and/or emergency repairs.
  • Become familiar with the monthly financial performance reports.
  • Gain familiarization of local market share, capture rates, average uplift, margin, and other KPI's.
  • Assist with the submission of Payroll and Timekeeping
Employee Management:
  • Mentor, guide, coach, evaluate, and discipline staff in partnership with the General Manager, corporate Human Resources and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Support the base in training and developing employees to succeed within Atlantic's culture, improve work performance, and maximize employee potential.
  • Work in conjunction with the General Manager to organize and execute formal and informal team building and employee recognition programs in conjunction with corporate initiatives.
  • Partner with corporate Human Resources in company-wide programs to include drug testing, workers comp, OSHA, Affirmative Action, training, performance reviews, etc.
  • Participate in required and recurrent HR training.
  • Utilize corporate Human Resources to assist when needed or required.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Previous FBO management experience preferred.
  • Aptitude in supervising and developing staff.
  • Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in use of MS Office applications.
  • Flexible work schedule may include working overtime, nights, on weekends, holidays, and be on call.
