Job Title: Commodity Manager B Location: Pascagoula, MS Requisition ID: 2300 Overall Function The Commodity Manager B is responsible for maximizing the value of goods and services acquired by the company. This role emphasizes strategic procurement practices, detailed market analysis, and cross-functional team collaboration. The Commodity Manager will deliver strategic benefits by deeply understanding market conditions, internal organizational needs, and managing supplier relationships effectively. This role directly supports the relevant Purchasing Group Leader responsible for the assigned procurement stream. Typical Duties * Manage purchasing responsibilities for assigned commodities as directed by the Purchasing Group Leader or Purchasing Management. * Gather, analyze, and disseminate domestic and international market intelligence relevant to assigned commodities. * Develop and manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring the supplier base aligns strategically with company goals. * Identify, plan, and deliver strategies that enhance company value and align with commodity-specific objectives. * Obtain, assess, and negotiate competitive cost proposals for commodities. * Collaborate within cross-functional teams to support Strategic Sourcing and Target Costing initiatives. * Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts and agreements through the Preferred Customer Agreement process. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * Comprehensive knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, objectives, and procedures, enabling effective leadership of commodity teams. * Strong capability to analyze internal technical and commercial requirements and effectively communicate these to stakeholders and suppliers. * In-depth domestic and international market expertise, particularly within the steel commodity market. * Technical proficiency sufficient to interpret internal technical requirements, analyze supplier capabilities, and articulate detailed needs clearly. * Proven ability to justify supplier selection based on quantified analysis and relevant data. * Extensive understanding of commercial pricing structures, supply conditions, and contractual terminology specific to commodity procurement. * Up-to-date expertise in advanced Supply Chain Management and procurement best practices. * Proficiency with Microsoft Access, MRP and ERP software systems, as well as external report generation and data analysis tools. Experience & Training * Minimum of 3 years of experience within a Purchasing environment or relevant equivalent work experience.
