Over the last 20 years, the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) has distinguished itself as one of the fastest-growing art museums in North America. Founded in 1799, it is also the country's oldest continuously operating museum. Under supervision of the Associate Creative Director the Associate Design Director will support a cross-discipline team in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. The Associate Design Director is a key creative and operational leader in the museum's Marketing department, serving as the right hand to the Associate Creative Director. This role combines advanced design expertise with project management and team coordination to develop and implement branding and promotional materials that advance the museum's exhibitions, programs, and special initiatives. The Associate Design Director plays a central role in ensuring the museum's brand is expressed consistently and impactfully across all visual touchpoint while working closely with members of an award-winning creative team that includes other graphic artists, writers, editors and photographers in a highly productive and fast-paced environment. The team collaborates closely with the Associate Creative Director, Copywriter/Copy Editor and the Chief Marketing Officer to ensure that the museum's established visual identity and brand positioning are well articulated, and that this identity remains consistent in all materials. The Associate Design Director works with a wide range of museum staff and museum clients to develop appropriate, vetted materials. PEM is looking for a candidate that has a minimum of 6+ years of professional experience in graphic design with 2+ years in a leadership or senior-level role. Strong time management and organization skills as well as experience in planning, prioritizing, scheduling and implementing projects required. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working collaboratively across teams is a plus. Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and other web-hosted services coupled with exemplary interpersonal, oral, written and presentation and skills. This position is a full time role and the hiring range for this role is $67,525 to $75,966 commensurate with experience.
