Your role with us

As a Chaplain II, you will be a vital source of compassionate spiritual support and guidance, offering holistic care to patients and their families during critical moments such as trauma, death, and palliative care. Collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team, you'll assess and address deep spiritual needs, ensuring personalized care that honors diverse faiths and cultures. Your role blends heartfelt presence with skilled coordination, including on-call support and volunteer leadership, to bring comfort and hope in the most challenging times.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide holistic spiritual support and counseling to patients and families, addressing spiritual, psychological, and social needs, especially during urgent situations like trauma, codes, and deaths.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team-including physicians, nurses, social workers, and counselors-to assess and strengthen patient care.
  • Conduct thorough spiritual assessments using established tools for palliative and spiritual care patients, documenting plans and follow-up in the electronic medical record.
  • Prioritize patient care through triage and team huddles, ensuring timely and coordinated spiritual support.
  • Guide and support spiritual care volunteers in fulfilling their roles and recognize their contributions.
  • Partner with multi-faith and cultural leaders to meet patients' spiritual needs during hospitalization and coordinate appropriate referrals for post-discharge care.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation covering nights, weekends, and holidays, while applying Lean methodology principles to improve daily workflows.
Required qualifications
  • Master's Degree with 72 hours of graduate level education from an Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accredited school ending in Master of Theological Studies (MTS), Master of Divinity degree or equivalent is required.
  • 1 Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required

Additional information

  • 2 years of direct experience. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
