Get to Know Your Team:
- UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.
Responsibilities
- Assist with public relations and marketing aspects of the sports medicine program by acting as a liaison between physicians, medical office personnel, various hospital departments, school administrators, coaches, Athletic Trainers, parents, and athletes
- Schedule and assist with outreach sports medicine coverage including, but not limited to, school visits, game coverage, and special event coverage.
- Be point person for referral communications, local sport teams, high school/college athletic departments, etc.
- Fluent in clinic's EMR system to assist with scheduling physician appointments and diagnostic imaging
- Prevent, evaluate, and treat athletic injuries using appropriate medical protocols.
- Perform athletic injury assessment and referral to appropriate healthcare provider.
- Perform treatment, rehabilitation, and documentation using evidence-based protocols.
- Participates in development and implementation of Sports Medicine programs.
- Provides patient care in orthopedic clinics working under physician supervision.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Trainer or other health related field
- Texas Athletic Trainer Licensure
- 5+ years' experience as an Athletic Trainer
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Master's degree
- NATABOC Certification
