Join AIR as aSenior Instructional Design Specialist, a leadership role supporting the USAID-funded Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) 7, Pillar 2, Data, Learning, and Communications Hub. This position plays a pivotal role in advancing the Hub's learning strategy, overseeing the design and implementation of high-impact learning solutions, and mentoring a team of learning professionals. You will help shape the future of knowledge sharing and capacity building across global development sectors.

This position may be based remotely within the U.S. or from one of AIR's U.S. office locations (excluding U.S. territories).

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the position include:



  • Develop and implement FEWS NET learning strategy following accepted adult learning pedagogy.
  • Manage and administer FEWS NET Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Manage LMS user outreach, access, permissions, and communications.
  • Produce engaging content using an authoring tool like Articulate Storyline and Rise360.
  • Edit and produce video and audio content using audio/visual tools like Adobe Premiere and Adobe Audition.
  • Collaborate with FEWS NET Pillar teams to leverage existing training content, identify additional needs, and produce on-demand and instructor-led coursework.
  • Track platform metrics and integrate them into performance reporting. Product Development Leadership
  • Collaborate with FEWS NET staff to develop and refine consistently high
  • quality learning products and events
  • Develop guidance and provide ongoing support for:
  • Content development and flow
  • Use of standard language
  • Making complex technical concepts accessible to wider audiences
  • Support active use of learning products across FEWS NET
  • Work with FEWS NET teams to connect technical staff and enhance relationships to bolster knowledge sharing and forge common ground and language
  • Develop clear, accessible messaging on technical topics relevant to the Hub's mission to share data and information with wider public audiences.


Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:



  • Bachelor's in training and development, course planning, online learning media creation, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience
  • Within those years, must have management experience that includes identifying technical requirements, writing scopes of work, and managing specific short-term technical experts or subcontractors
  • 4-5 years experience with the following:

    • Audio/visual production applications
    • eLearning authoring tools like Articulate Storyline
    • Managing an LMS similar to Moodle
    • Developing curricula and course planning
    • Proven experience developing and delivering learning strategies and content focused on adult learning in technical fields is a plus but not required
    • Background in international development and government contracting is a plus but not required

  • Proficiency with Google Workplace
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to accuracy when producing deliverables
  • Skilled at prioritization and multitasking
  • Excellent training strategy and planning skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work efficiently in a virtual work environment
  • Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team


Disclosures:
