Director of Human Resources

This is a hybrid position based in Culver City, CA. Candidates must be based in Southern California and available to be on-site and travel as needed.

The pay range for this role is $139,557-$160,490 annually.

Summary

As the Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for leading and performing a wide variety of human resources duties to support Didi Hirsch staff and leadership with a focus on employee relations and culture, learning & development, and compliance. You will manage HR policies and work with senior leadership to align HR strategies with the company's goals, mission and values.

Primary Duties



  • Partners with program and division leaders to identify and implement processes, strategies and resources that are aligned with organizational goals and metrics. Collaborates with management teams on building and implementing effective workforce deployment strategies.
  • Develops and leads recruitment, selection, retention and other employment activities for all positions; works with managers to forecast personnel needs and budgets. Provides direction to human resources staff in the process to maintain all resumes, application forms, applicant flow logs in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Provides advice and guidance to supervisory staff in making employment-related decisions.
  • Manages the HRIS system, components and structure to include system upgrades, training and maintenance to insure integrity of employment data.
  • Manages compensation structure within the Agency to include participation in and analysis of salary surveys, developing realistic and measurable benchmarking standards for the Agency and makes recommendations for setting salaries in connection with the Agency's pay practices and philosophies, etc.
  • Provides consultation to supervisors and managers on assessing employee performance, administering constructive feedback; counsel managers and supervisors in resolving employee performance problems and making staff decisions such as termination of employment.
  • Provides direction to management on appropriate use of coaching and teambuilding techniques that promote organizational goals and support employee engagement, satisfaction and retention.
  • Collaborates with Sr. Leadership Team in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of the Agency's professional training and development programs which includes management and leadership development. Collaborates with senior management to identify training needs and designs coursework that develops skills and improves performance in accordance with the Agency's strategic plan and vision.
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of labor and related laws, industry trends, and effective human resources practices through participation in seminars and classes, membership in professional organizations, reading and contacts in the industry; consults with legal counsel as necessary.
  • Provides senior management with routine and special reports; and ensures preparation and submission of employee information to government agencies as required by law.
  • Manages subordinate staff in performance of their duties.


Position Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or a related field or related work experience. Master's degree or professional certification desirable.
  • Minimum of ten years progressive generalist experience, training and development and presentation, employment law and labor law background.
  • A working knowledge of all human resource activities and associated state and federal regulations (e.g. COBRA, Wage and Hour laws, Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Employment regulations, OSHA, Workers' Compensation, American with Disabilities Act, FMLA, CFRA, etc.).
  • The ability to implement new human resource programs designed to meet organization objectives (e.g. retention, compensation, performance management).
  • A working knowledge of Didi Hirsch's policies as they relate to employment.
  • Very effective oral and written communications skills sufficient to write comprehensive reports and policies, and to successfully interface with all levels of management and staff.
  • Basic accounting and general math skills sufficient to analyze compensation and benefits data, and prepare associated reports.
  • Personal computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, HRIS and social media websites.
  • The analytical skills, experience and good judgment to make decisions within policies.
  • A commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Current California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.
