GOVERNMENT AGENCY: DOJ LESIS (Law Enforcement Services & Information Sharing)

POSITION INFORMATION: Full-Time Position; Government contractor supporting DOJ LESIS

LOCATION: Remote

POSITION TIMING: Position requires DOJ Public Trust clearance; candidate can start once complete (2-4 weeks)

ITC Federal is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Tester to lead quality assurance and testing efforts on a mission-critical federal program. This role requires a seasoned QA professional with deep experience in software testing methodologies, tools, and practices in both Agile and traditional development environments. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, hands-on practitioner, and strategic thinker who can oversee the full testing lifecycle and ensure the delivery of high-quality applications that meet rigorous federal standards.

As a senior member of the testing team, the Principal Software Tester will collaborate closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to validate application functionality, performance, and security.



Responsibilities

    Lead the planning, development, execution, and maintenance of comprehensive test plans and test cases for web and enterprise applications.

  • Perform manual and automated testing to validate functional, performance, regression, and security requirements.

  • Review requirements, user stories, and design documentation to ensure testability and completeness.

  • Develop and execute detailed test scripts and scenarios based on business and technical specifications.

  • Identify, document, and track defects and work with the development team for timely resolution.

  • Implement and manage automated testing frameworks and continuous integration pipelines.

  • Mentor and guide junior testers on best practices, test coverage, and quality assurance strategies.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on testing strategies, tools, and processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Ensure compliance with testing standards, accessibility requirements (e.g., 508 Compliance), and federal IT security guidelines.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software testing, with at least 2 years in a leadership or principal tester role.

  • Demonstrated experience leading testing efforts in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe environments.

  • Strong knowledge of software testing lifecycle, test case management, and defect tracking.

  • Experience with testing tools such as Selenium, JIRA, TestRail, Postman, LoadRunner, or similar platforms.

  • Familiarity with APIs and experience testing web services (REST/SOAP).

  • Understanding of DevOps pipelines and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DOJ, DHS, or similar federal government agencies.

  • ISTQB, CSTE, or other relevant QA/testing certifications.

  • Knowledge of Section 508 Accessibility compliance and testing.

  • Experience with security and performance testing tools.

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for test automation.
