Job Description Summary
The Collections Specialist position is responsible for minimizing financial risk by assessing creditworthiness, investigating overdue accounts, and negotiating payment terms. This role involves managing accounts receivable activities including invoice management, payment processing, and dispute resolution. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing routine tasks and resolving common issues.

Work You'll Do:

  • Generate invoices and credit memos, verify details, and track their status.
  • Communicate with customers regarding payments and maintain accurate payment records.
  • Post customer payments, manage bank deposits, and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Prepare aging reports and monthly reports to monitor accounts receivable status.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and liaise with customers to resolve disputes.
  • Perform account reconciliations, supporting bad debt reserve calculations and assisting with month-end close activities.
  • Complete ad-hoc duties as needed to support department operations.

Team:
This role will collaborate with Accounts Receivable, Credit, and Finance teams to ensure efficient collections processes and customer account management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required
  • Proven experience in accounts receivable, collections, or related financial roles
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and comprehension of financial processes
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of routine work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as SAP, QAD, or similar tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with credit risk assessment and dispute resolution procedures
  • Experience with ERP systems, CRM platforms, or specialized collections software
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex customer issues
