Job Summary

Milwaukee Public Schools seeks an exceptional Central Services Teacher - Computer Science (Elementary) candidate who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders.

The Central Services Teacher - Computer Science (Elementary) will provide targeted, on-site support for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) elementary educators engaged in teaching computer science. This role is critical in ensuring the successful implementation of the district's elementary computer science curriculum and supporting teachers in leveraging educational technology and related equipment to enhance student learning. The Central Services Teacher - Computer Science (Elementary) will serve as a pedagogical leader and resource, fostering effective teaching practices and continuous professional growth in computer science instruction.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Valid Wisconsin teaching license (with certification in computer science or technology integration preferred).
  • Formal training in computer science instruction, including curriculum implementation and integration of computational thinking skills.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience, ideally in computer science or technology-rich environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of elementary computer science concepts, instructional strategies, and digital literacy tools.
  • Experience in designing and facilitating professional development or coaching teachers in instructional practice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in instructional coaching and mentoring educators to improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and analyze instructional data to support informed decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that promote trust, communication, and effective team building across diverse school communities.
  • Knowledge in the use of computer applications, instructional technologies, and online learning management systems (e.g., Google Workspace, Canvas, Seesaw, or similar platforms).
Responsibilities

  • Conducts school visits to provide hands-on coaching and instructional support to teachers during the school year and summer training sessions.
  • Customizes implementation of the elementary computer science curriculum to address the specific needs of individual schools.
  • Delivers professional development to teachers in the use of classroom equipment and emerging technologies for computer science instruction.
  • Assists teachers in planning engaging and standards-aligned lessons, designing assessments, and applying differentiated instruction strategies.
  • Supports teachers and students in the preparation and execution of special events, presentations, and computer science demonstrations.
  • Attends required professional development to maintain or enhance coaching skills and technological competencies.
  • Supports the growth of computer science education across the district.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

The salary range for this position starts at $52,827.70 and increases according to a set salary schedule which is based on years of work experience as a fully licensed teacher/pupil services educator in a K-12 setting and education beyond a bachelor's degree.

Salary range: $52,827.70 - 99,937.66 (191-day teacher calendar)
