Job Description

Missouri University of Science and Technology, a NCAA Division II institution and member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), is accepting applications for the position of Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic leader committed to the continued academic and athletic success of our student-athletes and to maintaining a culture of integrity, competitiveness, and excellence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the track and field program, including strategic planning, student-athlete development, staff supervision, and program administration. While this position leads the full program, collaboration with the head cross country coach-who will coach distance events-is expected.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and manage all facets of a comprehensive NCAA Division II track and field program, including sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, and multi-events
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the academic success and personal development of student-athletes
  • Recruit and retain student-athletes who will excel both athletically and academically
  • Develop and implement training programs, practice schedules, and competition strategies to maximize student-athlete performance
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, GLVC, and university rules, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with athletic training and strength & conditioning staff to ensure the health and well-being of student-athletes
  • Manage program budget, including travel, equipment, and operational expenses in accordance with department guidelines
  • Plan and coordinate home meets and team travel
  • Cultivate relationships with alumni, donors, and community partners to support fundraising and external engagement goals
  • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes integrity, accountability, and respect
  • Supervise assistant coaches and support staff, promoting professional development and collaboration
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Collegiate coaching experience in track and field, with a strong emphasis on team and program management
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes
  • Knowledge of NCAA II rules and regulations
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Knowledge in coaching sprints, jumps, and multi-events
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position is commensurate with experience.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
