Description The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for all task-based Central Services activities. Central Services activities include, but are not limited to: decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, assembly and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts, paring and replenishment of materials, and receiving and distribution of Central Services supplies. The Central Services Technician must be able to decontaminate and assemble surgical instrumentation using an automated Instrument Tracking System. Uses an electronic hand held ordering device and works with the Materials Coordinator to par, order, and replenish soft supplies in the surgical core, and CS packs storage area. Assembles the surgical case cart from a predetermined preference list; the case cart includes surgical instrumentation; peel packs, soft supplies, packs, and implants. The Central Services Technician is accountable for all activities to which s/he is assigned during their shift, to include: quality and accuracy of instrument decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case cart assembly, and supply par and replenishment. Selects appropriate method of sterilization, verify parameters, and documents sterility accurately and appropriately. Complies with all department specific policies and procedures. Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems to the Operations Supervisor or Manager. Works with and under the guidance of the Lead Central Service Technician, Central Services Coordinator, and Materials Coordinator to prioritize tasks in order to support clinical operations effectively and efficiently. Expected to fulfill varying weekend coverage. Expected to provide support and coverage across all Swedish campuses as needed. May occasionally work overtime.
