Unit secretaries play a vital role in the healthcare industry because they support a wide range of individuals, including patients and other medical professionals. The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. The ideal candidate for this role will possessstrong customer service skills, effective communication skills, and have the ability to multi-task.

    R3 at Maine Medical Center is an adult Medical Surgical unit, serving adult patients 18 and over. R3 also has a section within the unit with 6 intermediate care beds. The unit provides care primarily for general surgical patients and includes surgical specialties in vascular, bariatric, abdominal, trauma, complex wound management, and burn populations.

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
    • License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
    • Experience: One year of hospital or health care setting preferred.
