Scope of work

Responsible for direct supervision of Central Processing Technicians. Responsible for resolution of any operational problems, as well as to maintain the department policies and procedures. Implement new procedures and coordinate in-services in conjunction with the Administrative Manager, OR/CPD Educators and Surgical Materials Managers.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, organize and direct the day-to-day work of subordinates and assist in management of daily departmental operations.
  • Respond to and resolve majority of the front-line operational problems.
  • Coordinate in-services, meetings, training, and orientation of new personnel in conjunction with the CPD educator, manager, and surgical materials manager.
  • Maintain discipline and corrective actions, as warranted.
  • Assist in interviewing candidates for position openings and make hiring recommendations.
  • Develop new procedures and update current ones.
  • Accumulate QI statistics and report to manager.
  • Demonstrates the delivery of excellent customer service by exhibiting the hospital's ten customer service behaviors in every aspect of the job (100%).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required.
  • College Strongly Preferred.
  • Five years of relevant experience as a Central Processing Tech Preferred.
  • Computer experience Required.
  • One year of management experience Strongly Preferred.
  • Knowledge of surgical equipment Required.
  • HSPA Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) within one year.
