Student HireAbility Navigator in consultation with the local VR offices identifies the Pre-employment transition services available to students with disabilities. The sole focus of this position is the development, coordination, capacity-building, and provision of pre-employment transition services. Job Description
- Identify other, similar services available to students with disabilities.
- Collaborate with partner agencies to develop work-based learning opportunities for students with disabilities, including internships, summer employment, other employment opportunities available throughout the school year, and apprenticeships.
- Convene and/or attend workgroups, committees, coalitions, and cross-agency teams to foster system and community coordination of pre-employment transition services and activities.
- Increase community and system awareness of the resources and activities available to students with disabilities; promoting career exploration, post-secondary education and work readiness, routine interaction with local, state and federal government officials, school districts, education services centers, employers, Workforce Solutions, the media and the public.
- Developing and implementing a three-year Student HireAbility Navigator Action Plan; establish program goals, effective and innovative strategies, deliverables, accountable parties and timelines for achieving goals.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
- One additional year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education
- Four years of full-time work experience in the fields of education, vocational rehabilitation, workforce development programs, human services programs, or non-profit organizations serving students or persons with disabilities is preferred
- A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for years of the required qualifying experience
- Must be a team player and model HEART Principles
- Have knowledge of community resources to address potential barriers of job seekers. Familiarity with human service, vocational rehabilitation, and disability issues and service competencies
- Strong written/oral communication and presentation skills
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Must possess and maintain a good driving record and meet company driving requirements
Additional Information

Extensive standing, sitting, computer, phone, and deskwork required; some kneeling and lifting of up to 50 pounds required; work primarily in a defined office environment with specified hours, although flexible hours including overtime may be required; interacts one on one and in groups with individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.
