Additional consideration will be given for the following job related experience or training:

• Experience and training in the area of maintenance and operation of substation equipment, such as breakers, transformers, disconnect switches, meters, etc.
• Experience in the switching of substation equipment at all voltage levels. Training and/or experience in interpreting various meters, charts and other indicators found within substations to determine if equipment is functioning properly.
• Familiarity with Dispatcher "Hold Card" procedures. Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant's ability to perform the job.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Work related to switching, changing charts, inspecting equipment, operating equipment and coordinating repair orders in and around the Company's substations.

Performs duties such as:

1.Performing manual switching at various locations on the Company's as directed by Systems Operations, Service Dispatchers or other supervision;

2.Replacing charts in substations as required and inspecting charts for excessive current or improper voltage levels, making adjustments on transformer tap changers, etc. to correct problems if possible;

3.Checking and maintaining supplies for recorders, location of fusing, circuitry for metering clocks, etc. and reporting all malfunctions to proper departmental authority for correction;

4.Checking fans, pumps, controls, checks for transformer oil leaks and condition of bushings and other related apparatus in and around substations;

5.Checking air and gas pressure on breakers, oil circuit breakers and other related equipment, reporting malfunctions of equipment and operating devices to the appropriate departmental authority;

6.Checking the general condition of substation yards, grounds and equipment in and around the property. Reporting any unusual conditions to the proper departments;

7.Operating assigned vehicle and maintaining necessary supplies and equipment on same as well as assisting in the instructing and training or retraining of employees in other departments on substation equipment and switching; and

8.Coordinating activities with customers and others concerned with system operations for maximum safety and reliability of electric service.

9.New IT technology is being utilized and consistently upgraded in our Switchgear and Control houses, requiring Sub Inspectors to have the ability to understand and increase their IT knowledge as well as maintain their ability to manage our "older equipment";

10.Sub Inspectors must be comfortable using a computer and adjusting to conditions as they are being implemented into our Substation equipment condition management, thus requiring a high degree of self-motivation without direct supervision.

11.Substation inspections utilize multiple IT applications that are required for asset management.

In addition to the primary duties listed above, the employee may be called upon to perform other work as circumstances require.

Must know and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work performance.
