University Development's purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary |
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.
UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Campaigns and Strategy, the Project Manager, Campaigns and Strategy will consult and assist schools and units with campaign projects and coordinate activities of campaign volunteers. In this role, the Project Manager will support campaign planning and manage aspects of the day-to-day operations of the campaign. This individual will collaborate with various departments across University Development Office to create tools and resources for schools and units to use to advance their campaign objectives. Additionally, the Project Manager will manage campaign volunteer activities, ensuring their effective involvement and contribution to the university's fundraising efforts. This position will: provide data-driven leadership for key business questions, work with the OneCarolina development community to identify business needs and develop appropriate strategies to affect business outcomes, partner with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Campaigns and Strategy (
AVC), the prospect management office, the business intelligence office and marketing team as indicated, develop and maintain effective relationships with internal clients and collaborators across the university-wide development community to develop, market and infuse high-level strategic campaign thinking into schools and units and to achieve program goals. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Minimum of a bachelor's degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with related experience. For positions with responsibility for direct solicitation of gifts and funds, a minimum of 1 year of professional-level, direct solicitation/fundraising experience is required. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Ability to work with changing priorities and multiple projects.
Strong diplomacy skills (able to successfully manage external and internal relationships and effectively liaise with colleagues at all levels) and a customer service-oriented attitude. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Prior experience working on a comprehensive fundraising campaign.
* Prior knowledge of or direct and substantive experience with campaign and volunteer management in the context of a high-performing and demanding institutional demographic.
* Development experience in a research university or similarly complex institutional setting, or highly analogous experience from the corporate, nonprofit or government sectors.
* Proven ability to manage and lead effectively, both people and programs, including planning, resource allocation, budget allocation and supervision.
* Ability to make independent judgements and take initiative.
* Experience working with high-net-worth individuals.
* Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
* Demonstrated experience in setting and achieving challenging goals.
* Possess strong data, analytical and communication skills and experience with strategic planning processes.
* Proficiency in fundraising software and
CRM systems.
* Knowledge of
UNC-Chapel Hill's history, traditions, mission, and donor base. |
