Position Summary:

The corporate relations manager plays a key role in advancing the strategic growth and operational effectiveness of APS's sponsorship and exhibitor programs. This position oversees sponsor and exhibitor engagement across APS meetings, fosters proactive communication with partners, and supports retention and pipeline development initiatives. Ideal candidates bring experience in supporting strategic partnerships, sponsorship development, or corporate engagement, preferably within scientific, association, or mission-driven nonprofit settings. Core responsibilities include coordinating sponsorship logistics, managing exhibitor and sponsor platforms, executing marketing campaigns, and supporting financial and operational excellence. The manager works cross-functionally to align corporate engagement with APS's mission and event strategy. Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnership Management:




  • Support corporate relations leadership in the design, execution, and refinement of APS's corporate sponsorship strategy, aligning sponsorship initiatives with organizational goals.



  • Manage cross-functional planning for sponsor and exhibitor engagement at APS meetings, overseeing logistics planning, resource allocation, and performance measurement.



  • Support development and implementation of strategies to enhance sponsor and exhibitor engagement across APS programs and events.



  • Manage logistics for sponsorship-related meetings, including preparation of agendas, presentations, and briefing materials.



  • Provide on-site and virtual support for APS meetings and partner events to ensure successful sponsor and exhibitor activations.




Sponsor & Exhibitor Relationship Management:




  • Act as a primary point of contact for exhibitors and sponsors, ensuring a high-quality, customer-centric experience.



  • Drive sponsor retention and satisfaction through proactive engagement and strategic communication.



  • Assist in developing long-range retention strategies by gathering market insights and sponsor feedback.



  • Support proactive outreach and pipeline development efforts to expand APS's corporate, academic, and nonprofit partnership base.



  • Coordinate with marketing on promotional campaigns and exhibitor communications.




Operational Intelligence:




  • Maintain and optimize APS's exhibitor management platforms, ensuring seamless navigation, data integrity, and a positive partner experience.



  • Oversee tracking tools to improve reporting, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.



  • Lead cross-departmental initiatives with IT and Finance to optimize payment processing, address system integration issues, and enhance sponsor-facing technology.



  • Support budget tracking and financial administration for sponsorship and exhibitor programs, ensuring financial transparency and stewardship.



  • Govern compliance protocols and quality control standards to uphold APS's reputation and deliver on partnership commitments.




Technology & Stakeholder Engagement:




  • Manage exhibits and sponsorship operations across APS's suite of digital tools, including Salesforce, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Suite, Asana, and exhibitor platforms such as Personify a2z and ExpoGenie.



  • Produce and distribute digital assets, email campaigns, and web content to drive sponsor engagement and program visibility.



  • Act as a liaison to internal stakeholders across marketing, events, finance, and leadership teams to align partnership initiatives with organizational strategy.



  • Stay informed on trends in sponsorship, scientific event marketing, and corporate engagement to ensure APS delivers innovative, science-aligned partnership models.




Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. Directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.




Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting meetings planning, sponsorship sales, business development, or client relations in for-profit, nonprofit, association, or corporate event sectors.

  • Strong skills in coordinating sales logistics, developing operational materials, and supporting processes that enable business development success.



  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to thrive independently and in team environments.



  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail and professionalism.



  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivering high-impact results.



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and Zoom.



  • Experience with CRM and project management tools (e.g., Salesforce, Asana) strongly preferred.



  • Familiarity with website content management and exhibitor software (e.g., Personify a2z, ExpoGenie) with workflow optimization skills.



  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours and weekends as needed to support key events.



  • Customer-centric, solutions-oriented mindset with strong relationship management capabilities.




Travel:

The position requires up to 20% of travel for in-person meetings with staff as well as periodic travel to attend meetings and events as part of its core responsibilities, as well as additional travel as assigned.

Salary:

The salary range for this position takes into account various factors influencing compensation decisions, such as skill sets, experience, training, and other business and organizational requirements. The salary listed within the specified ranges considers relevant experience. Our compensation philosophy at APS aims to maintain salaries at the midpoint of the market. As a result, we typically hire within the target starting range. Exceptional, rare cases may merit reviews above target starting range for specialized or niche skills aligned with strategic operational goals.

Hiring Range:$68,000/year - $92,650/year (USD)

Target Starting Range:$68,000/year - $75,650/year (USD)

Work Environment:

As noted above, APS offers a "Remote First" workplace. Although our offices are located on Long Island, NY, College Park, MD and Washington DC, you can work from other places in the United States. We are flexible about work hours, but expect responsiveness during the core of the workday, Eastern Time.
