We have an Electrical Power Engineer opportunity in our Hampton, NH office. This Engineer will be on scoping, quoting, and executing electrical engineering and control system projects. This person will also be designing, implementing, analyzing, and commissioning systems-including data collection, protection and control relays, controls, and communication systems-used in power generation and industrial markets for the generation and distribution of electricity. Project Responsibilities The qualified applicant will be prepared to grow into leading efforts to bring new clients to Wunderlich-Malec and lead the technical execution of projects under the guidance of the senior engineer. The ability to relate positively to customers in a flexible and responsive manner is required. Communication skills (in English) are required for customer, sub contractor and co-worker interaction. Clear written and verbal skills are a key prerequisite. Travel to and some work at remote locations is a component of the project tasks. Domestic and international travel is required. Engineering Responsibilities Engineering of the design, development, and implementation including software, hardware, and systems design integration of the various components on any given project under the guidance of a senior engineer.
- Work on the selection, specification, design, and application of control, protection and communication systems used in the electrical generation and substations by using the appropriate monitoring, instrumentation, control and communication equipment
- Work on the design of one line diagrams, three line diagrams, loop diagrams, control panels, electrical system studies and approval of manufacturing equipment drawings and the implementation of these designs
- Implement the specialty software tools, power calculations, system analysis and development of arc-flash studies, coordination studies, relay protection and control settings and other electrical engineering deliverables. A strong ability for self-directed skill growth and flexibility is required
- Apply the NEC, IEEE, NFPA, ISO, NERC, OSHA and other organizations' regulations and standards in the provided designs and installations
- Work on the detailed design for Industrial and Utility low, medium and high voltage generation and distribution electrical systems
- Work to develop detailed generator system operational sequences and relay programs based upon customer requirements, calculated set points, and existing protection systems
- Provide control enclosure manufacturing support and designs such as station electrical service, lighting, cable-tray, AC load center, DC load centers, battery sizing and other facility design requirements. The work includes the drafting of these designs
- Work on quality & project plans, control sequence of operations, standard practices and procedures, scope of supply, requests for information, customer correspondence, and explanatory calculation records
- Provide project documentation: task/periodic status reporting, percent complete estimating, production and assembly of required project manuals organization and maintenance of current network based project files, phone transcripts, meeting minutes, I/O lists, preparing purchase orders, specifying electrical and control hardware, preparing price quotes, etc.
- Willingness to work on programming of RTU, SCADA, DCS, PLC, HMI, and other equipment to support control system communications and integration. Prior programming experience of these specific devices is not required, but familiarity with general concepts is required
- Use AutoCAD and other software tools for the design of hardware and other equipment solutions
Minimum Requirements
- Education - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
- Experience - 4 years Electrical Engineering hands-on experience in industry is preferred
- Legal Status / Citizenship - US Citizenship is required
- Skills - Some knowledge of the configuration and programming of digital relays, electronic relays, RTUs, IEDs, DCS, PLC, and SCADA
- Software Tools - Understand the concept of using power systems modeling software such as SKM Powertools, ETAP, ASPEN, EasyPower, PSS-E, etc.
