The Manufacturing Engineer will plan, design, arrange, change, and optimize manufacturing processes in production, maintenance, engineering, and sales. This role will also assist in the Environmental Health & Safety day-to-day activities of the plant.
- Developing, evaluating, improving, and documenting manufacturing processes. Developing and implementing process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments. Analyzing manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancement of quality, cost reduction, and safety. Work closely with the manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees.
- Providing support to production colleagues, while ensuring all production equipment and tooling is operating correctly. Providing engineering support in the production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
- Developing and executing process improvements and capital appropriations that support cost reductions, new product development, quality & safety improvements.
- Conferring with vendors in determining tooling and equipment specifications and arranging equipment, parts, or material purchases to support product requirements.
- Collaborating with Sales, Application, and Design engineering regarding new product tooling and design to ensure that we develop methods and equipment that support the customers' requirements and manufacturability in production.
- Designing and developing manufacturing processes and tooling/equipment for enhancements and product changes.
- Supporting Sales and Application Engineering by providing time studies and gathering equipment/tooling requirements for new programs and changes to existing programs.
- Creating and maintaining accurate documentation of tooling drawings, equipment requirements, and associated plant layouts.
* Assist manager with Environmental, Health and Safety day-to-day activities. * Helps to coordinate safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions, and implement follow-up assessments. What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering; mechanical engineering preferred.
- At least three years of design experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing initiatives with an emphasis in continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain detail-oriented focus while balancing several simultaneous duties and initiatives.
- Must be able to independently manage workload and continuously promote a reduced stress environment.
- PLC / Controls experience is preferred.
- AutoCad / Solidworks experience.
Physical Requirements for Manufacturing Production Employees
- Standing:
Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift). - Walking:
Frequent walking throughout the production floor. - Lifting and Carrying:
- Regularly lift and carry up to 25-50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift heavier items (up to 75 pounds) with assistance or equipment.
- Pushing and Pulling:
Use of manual or mechanical means to push/pull carts, equipment, or materials. - Repetitive Motions:
Frequent use of hands and wrists for repetitive tasks (e.g., assembling, sorting, packaging). - Manual Dexterity:
Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle small parts or tools. - Climbing:
Occasional use of ladders or steps to reach equipment or storage areas. - Visual and Hearing Requirements:
- Sufficient vision (with or without correction) to read labels, safety signs, and equipment gauges.
- Adequate hearing (with or without aids) to respond to alarms and verbal instructions in a noisy environment.
- Environmental Tolerance:
- Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot, cold, or humid conditions).
- Exposure to noise, dust, odors, and manufacturing chemicals.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
