Police

Job Description

* Work directly with the Chief of Police to redesign the department's organizational divisions, units, and areas to ensure we are meeting the new department's mission.
* Work with the Chief of Police to ensure current practices and procedures are in line with current needs.
* Advise the Chief of Police of potential opportunities for the department based off observations, interviews, and past experience.
* Supervise the department's property team member that controls collected property, evidence, and lost and found.
* Supervise the department's communication/records supervisor. This unit consists of 12 full time employees that address emergency calls for campus, sends out MU Alerts, is the department's records function that prepares all police reports, accident reports, etc.
* Analyzing and reviewing the current department's records/communications unit to ensure it meeting best practices and overall department needs with changing times and technology.
* Supervises the department's security supervisor. This unit does safety patrols, locks and unlocks buildings, checks emergency phones, checks lighting issues, provides escorts, and many other security functions.
* Supervises the department's IT team member who is responsible for the department's network, desktop computers, mobile computers, software, and other IT needs.
* Review of department's fiscal activities to ensure proper tracking.
* Will conduct workload assessments of all the department's units as outlined in department policy along with interviews, observations, and related information.
* Work with department purchasing to ensure proper documentation, search for best vendor options, and ensure current department procedures are as efficient as they can be.
* Projects assigned by the Chief of Police.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Served as a Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, or Assistant Chief in similar organization.

Experience in organizational change.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 Annually

Grade: GGS-012
