Coordinates scheduling for assigned hospital departments in collaboration with Schedule Coordinator and other members of the health care team. Responsible and accountable for charges, maintaining data, and utilizing O.R. Management/Hospital Information System.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED). EXPERIENCE: 1. One (1) year medical office experience. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Responsible for OR scheduling for elective and emergent surgeries. Enters and maintains accurate and complete data for all OR, GI (Gastroenterology), and STR (Special Treatment Room) procedures. Reviews schedules daily. Removes, cancels, and reschedules patients as needed. 2. Answers all incoming calls for the Surgical Services Scheduling Office. 3. Refines the scheduling system through continued interaction with Clinical Director/Clinical Manager, Anesthesia, or designated individuals. 4. Pre-registers patients according to Hospital Admission/Registration guidelines. 5. Verifies patient insurance information is accurate at the time of scheduling (through insurance websites) and scans eligibility into EMR. 6. Works closely with the Pre-admission Office to ensure all testing, clearances, etc., are completed prior to surgery. 7. Collaborates with physicians' office staff to maintain effective working relationships. 8. Schedules special services for procedures (i.e. CDI Monitoring). 9. Plans and prioritizes daily workload to meet the needs of the department. Enters patient information into system within 24 hours, per policy. 10. Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to apply principles of reasoning and problem solving to resolve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
