Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The
UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. The School has built a reputation for its continued pursuit of excellence, rigorous education and training programs, cutting-edge multidisciplinary research, progressive pharmacy practices, efficient business operations, and its outstanding faculty, staff, and students. Position Summary |
THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 3 YEARS.
To ensure the implementation and success of the
CBMC Graduate Studies program by successfully managing the progression of twenty-eight graduate students from admission to graduation by being primarily responsibility for maintaining the overall academic integrity, quality, and viability of the graduate degree program. To do so, the Graduate Studies Program Coordinator (
GSPC) must:
1.Function as the primary point of articulation between the graduate degree program, the academic department and University, the graduate school, and the graduate student, to coordinate and implement the policies and procedures for graduate education.
2.Facilitate the recruitment and admission of a diverse group of exceptionally talented graduate students.
3.Monitor the progress (and lack of progress) of students through the program.
4.Work to enhance graduate student professional development opportunities.
5.Oversee the maintenance of graduate student records and the student evaluation process that is used by the program.
6.The
GSPC provides administrative support for the graduate program, faculty, and graduate students. To serve as a vital role promoting the educational and career success of individual graduate students. In addition, the
GSPC works with advisors to provide useful feedback to maximize the likelihood of timely completion of the degree. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Must be initiative-taking, highly organized, detail orientated, and flexible.
* Ability to promote and maintain a productive and collaborative work environment and create a knowledgeable and welcoming workplace for administrators, staff, and students.
* Possess excellent judgement, communication skills (verbal and writing) and professionalism.
* Ability to interpret and communicate complex policies to the faculty and trainees regarding regulations at the University, state, and federal levels.
* Prior experience in providing administrative support at a high performing level.
* Experience with Microsoft products.
* Experience with editing and proofreading.
* Prior administrative related experience. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
* Prior experience coordinating travel, along with reimbursements in various software platforms.
* Resourceful, detail oriented, and able to multitask while prioritizing agendas for themselves as well as faculty. |

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities |
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities. |
