Purpose:



  • Manage and coordinate multidiscipline engineering activities to ensure capital projects are executed in a safe, efficient, cost effective and timely manner.
  • Act as primary technical co-ordination interface with client to ensure that the client's expectations are satisfied.
  • Ensure the project conforms to the client's approved Basis of Design and all applicable regulatory and code requirements.


This is an onsite role based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The initial project duration is anticipated to be ~1.5 years with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:



  • Manage an assigned area within or the entire scope of a Business Unit project.
  • Lead and manage large capital projects.
  • Direct the assigned engineering contractor and manage compliance with contract requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of the Scope of Work and Design Basis for assigned area.
  • Approve technical portion of Purchase Orders and review all vendor documents.
  • Coordinate preparation of the Scope of Work for contracts.
  • Manage the budget and schedule for the Engineering and Procurement contractor.
  • Engage Maintenance and Operations for FEL and EPC.
  • Lead reviews of engineering documents and 3D Model.
  • Engage technical specialists as required to review and approve the Design and Construction documents.
  • Ensure construction is represented on the design team.
  • Set up document control to distribute all engineering documents to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  • Issue project specifications to the contractors and ensure that they are followed.
  • Ensure Quality is integrated into the design documents.
  • Take responsibility for the Management of Change Process.
  • Coordinate to resolve all technical issues that arise during the Construction or Installation Phase.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:



  • Minimum of 3 years of civil / structural, or construction project engineering execution experience in a chemical heavy industry, continuous process plant.
  • Lead and manage large capital projects.
  • Understands project process and interactions required to execute a Project.
  • Strong technical background and skills to lead technical specialists.
  • Ability to review vendor technical qualifications, approve vendor drawings and perform final equipment inspection.
  • Experience in specifying equipment and evaluating alternatives.
  • Experience in preparing Cost Estimates and reviewing Contractor Budgets.
  • Developed network of technical specialists to assist with resolving project issues.
  • Understanding of Safety and Environmental requirements and can lead their integration into the design and facilitate the PSM process.
  • Understanding of the constructability process and can ensure that engineering is construction driven.
  • Facilitate selected Value Improvement Practices (VIPs).
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate a diverse team of professionals.
  • Experience to ensure quality is integrated into the design and that contractors follow the project quality process related to engineering.
  • Versed in development of bid documents and technical evaluation of bids and bidders.
  • Experience in the project closeout process and document control.
  • Desire to lead safety in the field and participates in field safety meetings and job safety analysis reviews.
  • Experience as Project Engineer with an engineering contractor.
  • Experience in the Operating and/or Maintenance departments.
  • Excellent communication and negotiating skills.
  • Proficiency in written communications and presentations.


Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.


Preferred:



  • Field experience in construction related activities.
  • Experience as Project Engineer with an engineering contractor.
  • Experience in the Operating and/or Maintenance departments.
