Medical Assistant, Internal Medicine- Scituate

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support our practice onsite Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 5:00pm on Monday, Tuesday. Thursday, and Friday and 9:00am-5:30pm on Wednesday.
As true partners to our providers, our Medical Assistants get the opportunity to work autonomously to the top of their education/certification while also functioning as part of the care team. We ideally aim to have our clinical support staff members working 1:1 with an assigned provider, but they do cross-cover, rotate, and collaborate with other providers as needed. They see upwards of 20+ patients per day.
Responsibilities include:
Ensuring efficient patient flow through the office
Assisting during office visits (rooming/vitals, examinations, procedures, immunizations, and treatments as directed)
Performing clinically appropriate tasks related patient panel management (administrative support, phone calls, test results, prior authorizations, coordination of care, etc.)
Maintaining neat, clean, stocked, and safe exam rooms and patient care areas
Interacting with patients and their families in a professional and courteous manner consistent with their needs.
Please note: we do our best to keep all employees in their assigned departments; however, you may also be asked to float to other departments or other sites during orientation (for training/precepting purposes) or during times of staffing shortages/other extenuating circumstances (for cross-coverage purposes). Medical Assistants employed by this practice routinely cross-cover in our onsite Walk-In Phlebotomy Lab as well.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Licenses and Credentials
Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certified Medical Assistant - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred

Experience
Direct MA experience or medical field work 0-1 year preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for success in this position.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comply with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations.
- Ability to take vital signs and manual blood pressure, as well as collect blood samples and other specimens.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Managing one's own time and the time of others.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Medical Assistant Course or diploma program or a minimum of 1 year professional experience
  • National MA Certification via AAMA, AMT, NHA, or NCCT
