Position Summary:

Responsible for monitoring and maintaining biking and hiking trails and bike park features. Promotes safety awareness initiatives, bike park etiquette, and guest relations. Aids in design and construction of trails and bike park features. Assists with set-up, tear-down, and staffing of special events.

Intermediate to Advanced Mountain Bike skills required.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:
  • Installing and maintaining trail signage, closures, trail markings, and bike park features.
  • Assist in construction and maintenance of trails and bike park features.
  • Inspection of and maintenance of trails and bike park features visually and physically.
  • Ongoing monitoring and maintenance of trails, features, and equipment.
  • Fill out daily log sheets.
  • Assist with special events including set-up and tear-down of event sites.
  • Assist Bike Patrol as needed.
  • Participate in user education and training.
  • Enforce uphill traffic and limited use trail policies.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Due to the many variables that affect Summer resort operations such as weather, special events, and number of guests, employees may occasionally be asked to perform other duties or assist in efforts outside their primary area of responsibility, and may be required to work additional hours outside their normal work schedule. Must gain knowledge of the services that Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers. Frequently working around heavy equipment. May be required to help administer first aid.

Specific Job Skills:

License/Certifications - None

Technical - None

Physical Capabilities - Lifting 25 lbs. frequently, 50 lbs. occasionally, and up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Standing and/or walking for extended lengths of time on uneven terrain. Intermediate to Advanced Mountain Bike skills required.

Additional - Ability to read and write in English, simple instructions and correspondence.

Education/Related Experience:

Minimum education required - A high school education; or at least one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum time in related position - At least 1 month related experience preferred.

Equipment and Safety/Protective Equipment Used:

Handheld 2-way radios, shovels, rakes, drills, hammers, chainsaws, and various cutting tools.
