About the Job

This position will be conducting experiments and analysis relevant for completing the thesis project and manuscripts involving NeuroD1 as a gene therapy approach for spinal cord injury functional restoration.

Responsibilities include: tissue histology, widefield imaging, image analysis, figure creation, and writing. This position will be responsible for staining subacute-treated tissue with GFAP and NeuN for mRuby2+ cell characterization as well as Iba1 and CD68 for neuroinflammation analysis. This position will image Iba1/CD68 stained tissue on the widefield microscope, then analyze images for Iba1 and Cd68 cell density. This position will be responsible for analyzing this data, helping with figure creation, and aid in the writing process of the resulting research manuscript.

Required Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree with related experience
-Expertise in the histological processing of rat spinal cord tissue to stain and quantify dorsal and ventral spinal cord neurons, and microglia after traumatic spinal cord injury

About the Department

This position is located in the Department of Neurosurgery.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $15.25 - $18.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
