Role Overview: At 10x Genomics, we are seeking a Director of Business Insights & Analytics to spearhead our evolving commercial capabilities. In this high-visibility role, you will lead a team of analytics professionals responsible for market, customer, and competitor insights; strategic forecasting; business performance analytics; and data/reporting governance. The ultimate objective is to empower our commercial teams through forward-looking insights, robust analytical capabilities, and scalable data/technology infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Market Insights and strategy
- Market Modeling & Analysis: Lead initiatives that incorporate macroeconomic and industry-specific dynamics into actionable market models.
- New Market Exploration: Identify and evaluate emerging opportunities, including detailed segmentation, pricing strategies, and competitive intelligence.
- Primary & Secondary Market Research: Source, prioritize, and guide execution of market research projects that underpin strategic decision-making across the organization.
- Data Science Integration: Leverage advanced analytics (e.g., Python, R, AI/ML) to enhance market and customer understanding.
- Strategic Planning: Support strategic planning and act as key player driving alignment between corporate strategy and market realities
- Forecasting & Performance Analytics
- Strategic Forecasting: Collaborate with Marketing to develop near- and long-term forecasts at the platform and application level, linking key business drivers to broader market modeling.
- Commercial strategy support: Provide data-driven recommendations to enable Commercial and Marketing teams to optimize commercial strategy, including field force deployment, customer targeting, and marketing campaigns
- Commercial Excellence Support: Implement and refine advanced modeling techniques (e.g., AI modeling, predictive analytics) to enhance omnichannel strategy, accounting for customer engagement preferences to drive Sales and Marketing operations and effectiveness.
- Commercial Performance Analytics: Develop dynamic KPIs and real-time analytics to track executional effectiveness (e.g., sales, service, marketing, support).
- Cross-Functional Leadership
- Team Development: Mentor, and inspire a 6 person Insights & Analytics organization, fostering a culture of strategic thinking and innovation
- Executive Advisement: Serve as a strategic partner to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and, as appropriate, the Executive Leadership Team, delivering data-driven insights to guide commercial decision-making. Oversee incorporation of data, methodologies and inputs into regular executive reviews, including Quarterly Business Reviews
- Initiative Development and Prioritization: Maintain a clear roadmap of insights-driven initiatives that align with commercial goals and build visibility and organizational buy-in across the organization.
- Data Governance & Collaboration: Represent Commercial on cross-functional data governance councils. Partner closely with Productivity Engineering, AI teams, Marketing, R&D, and other stakeholders to ensure best-in-class analytics solutions.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Business, Life Sciences, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years in strategy, insights, or business operations within high-growth life sciences, biotech, or similar. Demonstrated success leading analytics or Business intelligence teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software (Python, R). Familiarity with AI/ML techniques for forecasting and segmentation.
- Leadership & Communication: Proven people management skills, capable of cross-functional coordination and presenting complex data insights to senior audiences.
- Analytical Rigor: Skilled in synthesizing large datasets into concise recommendations, with strong intellectual curiosity and a consultative mindset.
- Self-directed team player: Collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep Life Sciences Expertise: Background in high-growth life sciences tools companies.
- Advanced degree: MBA or PhD in Life Sciences
- Advanced Data Infrastructure Knowledge: Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake) and advanced analytic methodologies (predictive modeling, clustering).

Below is the base pay range for this full-time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one's skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company's total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x's equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
