Engineering Manager

Buffalo, NY * Be part of an exciting journey as we build our new facility in the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park in Alabama, NY! This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, blending remote work flexibility with on-site presence during the facility's construction phase.

Salary Range: $125,000 - 172,000

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.

The Engineering Manager provides technical leadership to the PC Genesee (PCGN) factory and global service group, driving quality, continuous improvement, and innovation in product quality. The role oversees Business Continuity Planning (BCP) initiatives related to supply chain localization, resourcing, and product obsolescence, ensuring operational resilience. Additionally, the Engineering Manager manages test lab operations for data collection, analysis, and report generation to meet customer requirements and leads the Copy Exact process to maintain product consistency.

Main Responsibilities

1. Customer Satisfaction



  • Develop and maintain a high-level technical product support capability to address customer needs, encompassing both proactive project work and reactive problem-solving for quality improvements.


2. Support PCGN Production - Supply Chain and Manufacturing Quality



  • Control First Time Through Failure Rate (FTTFR) to minimize production defects and enhance efficiency.
  • Implement Quick Response Quality Control (QRQC) to swiftly identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Oversee Supplier Quality Requirements (SQR) to ensure supplier compliance with quality standards.
  • Manage Material Review Board (MRB) processes to disposition non-conforming materials effectively.
  • Support business continuity by addressing resourcing, shortages, and obsolete products to maintain uninterrupted operations.


3. Business Continuity and Cost Optimization



  • Develop and validate BCP strategies, including reliability plans, to support Continuous Improvement Projects (CIP) and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Manage technical product support activities to achieve business objectives, focusing on reducing project timelines, problem resolution, and value engineering for cost efficiency.


4. Technical Oversight and Test Lab Management



  • Exercise technical authority over permits, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Engineering Changes (EC), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and global test rig operations at PCGN.
  • Oversee the product test lab, including product testing, data collection, and analysis. Generate and submit performance verification reports to customers in response to quality issues and product change requests, ensuring alignment with BCP, cost reduction, and Copy Exact process requirements.


5. Project Management



  • Lead and facilitate regular project management meetings with stakeholders to ensure alignment and progress on technical and operational objectives.


6. Factory Audits and Compliance



  • Develop strategies and organize factory audits for key customers (e.g., Intel, AMAT, Samsung) and ISO certifications, ensuring compliance and readiness.


7. Team and Individual Development





    • Manage the technical support team through continuous assessment, maintaining optimal team composition and headcount.

Experience/Skills/Knowledge



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical, engineering, or science discipline.


  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in product development within a manufacturing environment, including at least 5 years in a management role, with a strong understanding of advanced manufacturing methods.
  • Technical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies, and key performance parameters critical to product design and market requirements.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and motivate a technical team to achieve project goals, with strong skills in team building and staff development.
  • Communication: Exceptional influencing, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively at senior levels.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of dry pump technology, products, and manufacturing processes within the sector or similar technologies.
