Prior utility exp is a MUST Auto CAD Experience is preferred. The CAD Drafter plays a crucial role in supporting engineers by creating construction drawings and assisting with various tasks related to utility construction projects. This position involves using CAD software to develop detailed designs, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and collaborating with construction teams to meet project deadlines. Responsibilities Use computer-aided design/drafting equipment and software to develop construction drawings. Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to determine final design factors. Review drawings for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and client requirements. Complete permitting applications and cover letters. Work cross-functionally with construction teams to provide support and meet deadlines. Track and manage priorities through effective communication. Collect data through pre-made forms or accurate hand sketches. Retrieve information from customer databases to incorporate into drawings. Travel to sites for data collection through hand sketches, pictures, or surveying under the direction of a design engineer. Interact with customers professionally to represent InterCon Construction. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Associates Degree in Drafting and a minimum of two years of experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Civil 3D, or equivalent work experience. Ability to interpret schematics or engineering sketches to create a final product. Ability to read and understand DOT road plans, profiles, and cross-section prints. Familiarity with aerial imagery and creating base mapping. Detail-oriented with the ability to work in an organized manner to create consistent drawings. Ability to work as a team member on multiple projects. Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and prioritize daily work. Experience/exposure to the Utility Industry (electric, telephone, gas, water, sewer) is preferred. Ability to collect data utilizing measuring devices (tape measure, measuring wheel, etc.). Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Nice-to-haves Experience/exposure to the Utility Industry (electric, telephone, gas, water, sewer) is preferred. |
