PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Marketing and Communications or designee, the Multi-Media Specialist I provides technical and creative expertise related to the creation, production, presentation, and distribution of multi-media marketing and communications initiatives, programming, and audio/visual projects. Serves on Crisis Communications Team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.Develop and implement educational, promotional and marketing campaigns, providing creative support, content and copy development, design ideas, video production, post-production, distribution and promotion strategies.

2.Create marketing plans and coordinates media buys to maximize reach, effectiveness, and cost efficiency, tracking campaign performance and make adjustments to optimize results.

3.Produce and distribute in-house and remote video productions on appropriate platforms such as social media, websites and television. Responsibilities may include all aspects of production from conception to distribution including writing, audio, video, lighting, editing, promotion and dissemination.

4.Coordinate or assist with the creation and curation of copy, visual elements and animation for video productions, social media posts, websites, and other digital channels utilizing a variety of web development, social media software, and photo and video editing platforms. Must be trained and proficient in the use of Adobe Creative platform.

5.Assist with website maintenance, including the routine updates of written copy and visual information.

6.Provide support for social media management and monitoring as assigned, contributing to audience engagement and brand consistency.

7.Assist in the development, creation, and distribution of internal and external communications content across digital and print channels.

8.Create visual content such as presentations and data visualizations to communicate complex information clearly and efficiently by combining text, images, and design elements.

9.Daily operation and duties of City Utilities' Media Services department including assisting with the operation and maintenance of the Communications Center, boardroom audio/visual systems, and supporting meetings of the Board of Public Utilities, Committees of the Board, CU Citizens Advisory Council, and any other meetings or events that may involve the Utility that require A/V assistance.

10.Serve as member of the on-call crisis communications team which includes media relations, social media and other on-call responsibilities as needed.

11.Performs other related duties as required or assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in multimedia communications or related field from an accredited college is required.Exceptional experience and/or related college coursework may be considered in lieu of a four-year college degree on a year-for-year basis.Three or more years of recent professional experience in the multimedia field including content creation and production is required. Proficiency in video production, web content management, social media platforms and support is required. Experience coordinating marketing campaigns and promotional purchases across multiple channels, including digital, print, and broadcast preferred. Experience with Premiere Pro and After Effects preferred.

Licensing/Certification:

Must have a valid driver's license (minimum Class F).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

*Broad background and versatile skill set, including a professional working knowledge of video, audio, online and other digital platforms that include operation and troubleshooting of equipment.
*Ability totranslate complex topics into compelling, action-driven campaigns and communications materials by crafting stories through the perspectives of customers and employees.
*Ability to collaborate with vendors and media partners to develop and execute cost-effective and effective marketing buys that align with organizational goals and maximize reach and impact.
*Ability to develop innovative marketing strategies that leverage new channels and approaches to effectively reach target audiences and drive campaign success.
*Ability to handle photography work.
*Ability to use audio-visual equipment in a studio or field setting.
*Ability to successfully navigate various electronic programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suites, other applicable information technology applications, and self-service platforms.
* Trained and proficient in the use of web content management and photo and video editing platforms. Experience with mobile editing platforms and apps.
*Trained and proficient in the use of motion graphics or digital animations.
*Be a self-starter and work independently with a high level of confidence.
*Knowledge of social media platforms and emerging digital communication trends, with the ability to support content creation, engagement, and monitoring across channels.
*Work effectively, efficiently, and professionally with a variety of internal and external groups, organizations and individuals. Be able to meet deadlines and stay organized.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying ideas effectively.
*Maintain adherence to all company policies.

Physical Requirements:

Typically, sedentary work.Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication is required. Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work from ladder for setting lights. Occasional work from heights and utility vehicles if necessary.

Working Conditions:

Corporate office and audio/video production environment with in-house and remote production capabilities.Possible venues include both indoor and outdoor production environments, with potential exposure to adverse weather conditions or remote areas of the utility.Hours may vary depending on projects, deadlines, and events. Employee must remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times and maintain the ability to respond to changing circumstances in a timely manner.

Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people.
