Minimum: $1,571.71/ weekly
Midpoint: $1,964.65

Engineer III
Grade 59
Minimum: $1,797.18/weekly
Midpoint: $2,246.46

Engineer IV
Grade 60

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Engineer II or III:
Under the general supervision of the Manager-Electric Planning and Reliability or designee, performs professional and technical engineering work requiring application of standard engineering principles and procedures in electric distribution system planning. This position's emphasis is to increase knowledge and experience beyond the position and allow progression towards increasingly autonomous work performance.

In addition to the purpose of position listed above, an Engineer IV:
Provides supervision and guidance to other engineering personnel to improve overall capability of distribution planning staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from an educational institution accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) is required.

Engineer II
Minimum of two years of recent progressively responsible and directly related professional engineering experience or four years of recent related professional engineering experience in another discipline is required. Electric distribution planning experience preferred.

Engineer III
Minimum of four years of recent progressively responsible electric distribution planning engineering experience or six years of recent related professional engineering experience in power system design or operations, protective relaying, or transmission planning is required. Master's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Engineering Management is preferred.

Engineer IV
Minimum eight years of recent progressively responsible electric distribution planning engineering experience or ten years of recent related professional engineering experience in power system design or operations, protective relaying, or transmission planning is required. Master's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Engineering Management is preferred.

Licensing/Certification:

Engineer II
Certificate of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is required. A valid driver's license (minimum of Class F) is required.

Engineer III
The Engineer III must have a valid Missouri Professional Engineer (PE) Registration Certificate; however, engineers with exceptional equivalent engineering experience determined by management may be considered in lieu of PE Registration. Individuals without a PE Registration with exceptional experience may be hired but will be required to obtain a Missouri Professional Engineer Registration Certification within eighteen (18) months to remain at the Engineer III level. Individuals who have PE registration in another state may be hired but will be required to obtain a Missouri Registration Certification within twelve (12) months. A valid driver's license (minimum of Class F) is required.

Engineer IV
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure in the State of Missouri is required. Individuals with a PE from another state shall have 12 months to obtain Missouri PE registration to remain at the Engineer IV level. A valid driver's license (minimum of Class F) is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Engineer II or III
* Knowledge of:
o Engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
o NERC reliability standards, SPP studies/processes, EMS/SCADA, Python programming language.
* Experience with:
o Different software applications including Microsoft Office suite.
o Distribution planning software.
* Ability to:
o Plan, organize, and coordinate technical work with a high degree of accuracy.
o Communicate effectively with employees, vendors and contractors.
o Perform work more independently, with less supervision, will be expected as experience is gained.
o Work courteously with customers, co-workers, and individuals in other departments.
o Work under pressure.
o Interface with outside agencies at all levels.
o Successfully apply, engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
o Successfully navigate various electronic programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suites, other applicable information technology applications, and self-service platforms.
* Maintain adherence to all company policies.

Engineer IV
In addition to the KSA's listed above for the Engineer II or III, an Engineer IV should have:
* Advanced knowledge of, and ability to successfully apply, distribution planning engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
* A demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, apply comprehensive knowledge and expertise to the completion of major projects.

Physical Requirements:

Typically, sedentary work. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and receive detailed information through oral communication is required. Substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, and close visual acuity to operate a computer is required. Position may require bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Also, may require lifting up to 20 pounds on occasion.

Working Conditions:

Duties are normally performed in an office with some occasional field trips. Travel outside of Springfield, MO, to SPP or other functions may be required occasionally. May be required to work non-standard hours, holidays, and schedules occasionally.

Miscellaneous Requirements:

* Must be able to work successfully with diverse groups of people.
* Employees must remain alert and aware of their surroundings at all times and maintain the ability to respond to changing circumstances in a timely manner.
* In order for an employee to advance to the Engineer III or IV, they must adhere to the criteria and be recommended through the PE Pathway or Career Ladder Guidelines.

TESTING

Testing may be required.
