Title: Admission Counsellor / Academic Counsellor

Duration: (6+ months) contract

Pay rate: $19/hr on w2 Without benefits.

Location: Flint, MI 48503

Shift timings: Mon & Tuesday 8:00 am - 7:00 pm; Wednesday- Friday 8:00 am - 5 pm; Sunday 11 am - 5:00pm

BG/DT required: Yes

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Admissions, Coordination, Outreach & Follow-up.
  • Represent the College both on and off campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counsellors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. This includes daily calling campaigns.
  • Assist with promoting the college through creating marketing materials as needed
  • Assist with coverage of the information desk including answering of phones
  • Develops an on-going relationship with high school officials and counsellors to facilitate recruiting activities
  • Schedules and conducts visits to schools, churches, and community groups to meet, develop and encourage communication, involvement, and enrolment with MCC.
  • Counsels prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the college in person, on the telephone, via text and via email.
  • Gathers and ensures follow up on all inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Works to ensure recruitment fairs/events are identified and have appropriate coverage.
  • Conducts Admissions presentations on/off site.
  • Maintains contact with applicants from target areas utilizing all available communication tools to ensure completion of the application process and to facilitate an increase in the enrolment yield.
  • Assist in the preparation of and participate in all on campus recruiting events.
  • Assist with covering the Placement Office functions including but not limited to serving as a proctor on/off campus.
  • Responsible for responding to emails and data entry in a timely manner (24-48 hours)
  • Maintain accurate record keeping for weekly reporting
  • Set appointments and give tours for prospective students and their parent
  • Carries out other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Business, Marketing, Graphic Design or related required
  • Microsoft (word, excel and PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Google applications (google doc, google sheet, google slide, etc.)
  • Time management skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Experience with working with a diverse population of students
  • Reliable Transportation


Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working in higher education or sales


Working Environment:

  • This position may require some travel and is an in-person role. This position will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
