This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): Phoenix, Charlotte, Raleigh and Denver

SVB is looking to hire a Business Risk Process Analyst supporting the SVB Commercial Bank. This position is an individual contributor and will report directly to the Director, Business Risk Process Management within the Loan Administration organization and a dotted line reporting to the Business Risk & Control Office.

This position will be responsible for the development and execution of first line risk programs. This position will primarily support the testing function associated with newly established First Line Monitoring Program, which supports commercial credit and loan closing processes across the SVB Commercial Bank. This position must collaborate with both first line risk program as well as business leadership to complete testing on high-risk processes and identify areas for potential improvement. This position must promote an environment of risk awareness and risk ownership across the Bank while adhering to the Company's Risk Appetite and Corporate Strategy.

This is an integral role within SVB geared towards facilitating and driving ownership of risk across the SVB Commercial Bank. The ideal candidate will drive awareness, business process and operations perspective, accountability, and culture throughout the company; and provide business process subject matter expertise to drive ownership of risk in the business.

The right candidate will play an important role in supporting the evolution and development of the risk framework. Being able to "connect the dots" between related teams and workflows will be paramount to achieving success in this role.


Responsibilities

The Business Risk Process Testing Analyst will support the SVB Commercial Bank and will be responsible for the following:

  • Execute the testing function associated with the First Line Monitoring Program
  • Communicate testing findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Create testing procedures / testing attributes to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Translate potential control deficiencies into action plans and providing recommendations to enhance governance practices in alignment with risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Driving effective change management communication among 1st LOD stakeholders
  • Anticipating business needs and proactively identifies opportunities to improve and strengthen the control environment through actionable insights.
  • Support existing issue remediation efforts or control execution, as needed.
  • Providing a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues/requests.
  • Driving business process and operations awareness, accountability and culture

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 4 years of experience in Control testing, Enterprise Risk, Commercial Lending, or similar field or High School or GED with 8 years of experience.

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, supervisory guidance, and expectations for large financial institutions (LFIs)
  • Lending experience, including knowledge of credit packages and the ability to identify credit policy exceptions or insufficient supporting documentation supporting the approval of credit extensions.
  • Experience with Risk and Controls or Control Testing
  • Understanding of business strategy, critical success factors, risk profile, and potential exposures
  • Ability to not only proactively challenge the norm but also effectively develop and implement solutions.

For Denver, the base pay for this position is relative to your experience, but the range is generally $76,670- 90,200 annually

Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
