As a Sr. Video Brand Journalist, you will be the creative force behind all video content tied to advancing the philanthropic goals of the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Froedtert Hospital. This position will manage the end-to-end video production process, from conceptualizing impactful long-form storytelling to creating dynamic short-form content optimized for social media.
You will work closely with MCW's Institutional Advancement, Brand and Marketing Communications teams to uncover and develop compelling stories that showcase grateful patient experiences, alumni achievements, groundbreaking research, staff and learner success stories, and donor impact. This collaborative role is essential to driving engagement, inspiring giving, and amplifying the mission of MCW's philanthropic campaign.
Responsibilities:
Video Content Creation:
- In partnership with the Enterprise Content Strategy manager and team plan, produce, and edit high-quality video content tailored to MCW's philanthropic objectives for the campaign.
- Develop long-form stories highlighting patient journeys, alumni achievements, and differentiating medical breakthroughs while creating short-form clips for social media to boost engagement.
- Ensure all videos align with MCW's brand, voice, messaging, and overall strategy.
Focus Areas:
- Grateful Patients: Showcase transformative patient care and its impact on lives.
- Alumni Engagement: Highlight the accomplishments and contributions of MCW alumni.
- Medical and Scientific Research: Create videos that spotlight pioneering research and its global impact.
- Staff and Learner Spotlights: Celebrate the dedication and achievements of MCW's healthcare professionals and researchers.
- Donor Engagement: Produce content that illustrates the tangible results of donor generosity.
Production Leadership
- Manage all aspects of video production, including pre-production planning, on-location filming, and post-production editing.
- Oversee lighting, sound, and interviews during shoots to ensure professional quality.
- Utilize advanced editing techniques to create polished, visually engaging content.
Collaboration and Story Development
- Partner with Institutional Advancement and Communications teams to mine and develop impactful stories that align with MCW's philanthropic goals.
- Work closely with subject matter experts, patients, donors, alumni, and staff to capture authentic, engaging narratives.
- Comply with all institutional policies, procedures, and processes.
- Ensure alignment with broader marketing and engagement strategies led by the Director of Marketing and Engagement - Philanthropy.
Social Media Optimization
- Clip and adapt video content for maximum impact on social platforms, ensuring videos are audience-appropriate and shareable.
- Collaborate with the enterprise MCW content strategy and social media teams to align video strategies with platform-specific goals.
- In-person event optimization. Salons, and other major events will need to have videos produced.
Project Management
- Oversee video schedules, ensuring on-time delivery of assets for multiple campaigns and initiatives.
- Maintain an organized archive of video content for future use.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
- Proficiency with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro) and production equipment.
- Strong understanding of video optimization for digital platforms, including social media.
- Demonstrated skills in measurable brand journalism success, effective project management.
- Exceptional storytelling and visual communication abilities.
- Ability to translate complex medical or research topics into accessible and engaging content.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
Minimum education: Bachelor's degree in film, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field
Minimum experience: 5 years
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred experience: 7 or more years of integrated video design/production/editing/communications; Demonstrated experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects or similar software. Experience with both print and digital graphics and the programs used for each Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
