In this role, you'll support federal projects by designing, developing, and deploying AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions. We're looking for someone with hands-on experience building intelligent systems that solve complex problems and improve government services through the power of artificial intelligence.

U.S. citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day.

TCG is pleased to offer remote employment in the following states: AL, AZ, CO, CT, DE, GA, HI, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD, MA, MI, MN, MO, NJ, NC, OH, OR, PA (excluding the City of Philadelphia), SC, TN, UT, VA, WV, and WI. Additionally, the selected candidate must be able to travel to Washington, DC, for laptop pickup and repairs, as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Identify opportunities where Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, and other AI approaches can generate value for the public or improve internal processes.
  • Design and implement AI-powered semantic search capabilities.
  • Develop systems to generate plain-language summaries of complex regulatory text, including explanations of changes over time-what changed and why.
  • Build and maintain conversational AI tools (i.e., chatbots) to guide users through multifaceted tariff-related queries.
  • Work with DBAs, data specialists, and nomenclature analysts to structure and prepare content for use in AI models.
  • Stay current on AI trends, tools, and best practices.


REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:



  • A minimum of 10 years of IT experience, preferably in the government contracting arena
  • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years focused on machine learning or natural language processing
  • Subject-Matter-Expertise with prompt engineering techniques and large language models, including fine-tuning open-source LLMs for domain-specific tasks
  • Extensive experience designing conversational flows or integrating chatbot frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of information retrieval concepts, search relevance tuning, and ranking algorithms
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and wide latitude for independent judgment in an agile or iterative development environment


PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:



  • Certification in Cloud-based AI/ML platforms (AWS and Azure preferred)
  • Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures
  • Practice working with regulatory, legal, or government data sets


EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline required
  • Masters degree preferred

Internal title/grade: Software Engineer, E5
Salary range: $155,000 - $190,000

All individuals being hired to work for TCG must submit to, and successfully pass, a pre-employment background investigation prior to reporting for their first day of work. The pre-employment background investigation will include verification of employment and education, as well as, a criminal and DMV check.

Additional documentation and background checks will also be required for positions that require clearance from the Federal government.
