Job Purpose:

Honda's Sustainability and Business Development Business Unit is responsible for delivering Honda's Triple Zero goals of zero carbon emitted from products and operations, zero carbon emitted from energy used throughout the entire value chain including product in-use, and zero use of raw resources by recycling and sourcing sustainable materials for all new products. Electric vehicles are key to achieving this vision, and the switch to electric vehicles opens up the opportunity for Honda to create new value for our customers by creating new products and services with EV charging and home energy management.

The Principal Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing large-scale, complex technical projects in the public charging space. This role requires deep expertise in DC fast charging hardware and software, including vehicle-to-station and station-to-cloud integration.

This role requires strong technical leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of both business and technical aspects of the evolving charging ecosystem.

Key Accountabilities:



  • Lead the development and execution of the public charging technical strategy planning & execution.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications, defining system architecture, data flow diagrams, and customer journey flows.
  • Oversee the transition of project deliverables to the digital service development team, ensuring final implementation across vehicle IVI, smartphone applications, and other digital customer touchpoints.
  • Interoperability trouble shooting and countermeasure initiative with Charge Point Operators (CPO) partners and charging station manufactures
  • Collaborate closely with the public charging business development team to identify new service opportunities and partnerships.
  • Represent Honda's interests on relevant technical and customer experience committees (SAE, CharIN, ChargeX, etc.)



Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:



  • BA/BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering, Information Engineering, or relevant engineering degrees.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • 8+ years of EV or Charging technical domain experience
  • More than 5 years of large project management experience
  • More than 3 years at an Auto OE
  • Expertise in DC fast charging hardware and softwar
  • Expertise in general Public Charging with Workplace & commercial charging, multi-unit dwelling charging etc.
  • Public Charging technical project management experience with auto OEM's or CPO's.
  • Public Charging Interoperability trouble shooting and countermeasure proposal
  • Plug & Charge (PnC), eMSP, and other advanced charging feature development experience
  • Advance knowledge of public charging technical matters
  • Waterfall Project Management
  • Agile Project Management



Working Conditions:



  • Travel: 10% travel to suppliers and/or other Honda offices
  • More than 80% office work (Torrance, CA)
