Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine, is seeking a full-time clinical research professional to assist in their clinical research. The stroke division's research trials are comprised of both NIH StrokeNet federally and industry funded clinical trials. The trials study novel acute interventions for stroke patients at UCMC and other local hospitals.

As the clinical research professional dedicated to acute stroke research, the candidate will have the opportunity to lead a collaborative research and clinical team. The candidate will lead a portfolio of NIH and industry funded clinical trials looking at acute interventions for patients at UCMC and other local hospitals. The acute research trials require on call and onsite support, ability for patient enrollment during working hours and on call hours, due to the nature of acute trials this position will be offered in a hybrid setting. The exact hours of work and on call will be negotiated with the candidate. Duties can span a broad range of activities or be primarily focused within one or more areas of the clinical research spectrum. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

Essential Functions

  • Work closely with research manager and current research team to learn best practices in clinical trial management and subject enrollment.
  • Plan and coordinate clinical research projects in an acute care setting.
  • Proficient screening patients for inclusion in study based on pre-determined criteria.
  • Ensure that all data entry and logs are accurate and up to date.
  • In conjunction with the investigator, document and evaluate adverse events and response to treatment.
  • Perform routine physical/clinical procedures.
  • Coordinate nursing and patient care as applicable to research studies. Actively participate in patient care and/or patient follow-up.
  • Ensure compliance with contract principles, federal regulations, laws and University of Cincinnati (UC)/University of Cincinnati Physicians Company (UCPC) policy and operating procedures.
  • Maintain regulatory documentation. Prepare IRB submissions.
  • Liaison with medical staff, university departments, ancillary departments, satellite facilities, IRB, and industry contacts.
  • Ensure research staff complete all requisite training.
  • May serve as a resource person or act as a consultant within area of clinical expertise.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree must be in a related field.
  • Five (5) years of relevant education, experience and/or other specialized training can fulfill minimum education and experience requirements

Required Experience

One (1) year of related experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • SoCRA or ACRP certification.
  • Experience in an academic or clinical setting.
  • Familiarity in medical terminology and electronic medical record review.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detailed oriented and highly organized.
