Performs coordinative work in the business or administrative operation of a specific department or college. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a department as well as monitoring operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise staff or student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions

This role is responsible for coordinating business operations, ensuring compliance with institutional and federal requirements, and supporting staff and students through efficient, accurate, and timely business practices.

  • Provide business support for the departments, including reconciliation of multiple accounts, procurement card, and travel card transactions.

  • Create, maintain, and interpret regular and ad hoc budget and expense reports to support departmental decision-making.

  • Responsible for ordering supplies, coordinating event catering, working with vendors, and processing purchase orders.

  • Coordinate all travel-related functions, including preparing travel applications and vouchers for staff and program participants, and arranging reservations in accordance with university and grant policies.

  • Process hiring documentation for departments and assist with onboarding and exit procedures.

  • Support academic and departmental activities, including orientations, workshops, and special events.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years related experience; OR a combination of education and/or progressively responsible related experience to equal six (6) years.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to demonstrate skills will be tested.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and present financial reports clearly and accurately.
  • Capacity to learn and apply federal grant requirements, including relevant Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
