Job Description

Job Summary

Mercury Systems is seeking a hard-working, innovative mechanical engineer, who can learn quickly and bring a fresh perspective to complex design challenges. In this role, you will have a hands-on opportunity to design, analyze, and test complex PCB assemblies, including multiple methods of cooling utilizing the latest technologies. This role will be part of an integrated team and will involve the engineer to contribute to the design of avionics systems, occasionally will travel to customer sites (10%) and attend customer meetings / reviews.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Mechanical engineering tasks related to electronic module assembly design based on open standards; assignments include mechanical packaging design, printed wiring board layout and ECAD support, connector selection, label & cable design, prototype inspection & assembly, environmental testing, and the documentation required to procure and assemble hardware
  • Collaborating with other disciplines including Hardware/Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement as part of your daily activities
  • Involved in Product concept design all the way through integration, test, and production release conceptualization, design, development, analysis, and documentation of mechanical hardware and/or systems for use in rugged military applications
  • Involved in the design of fixtures to support testing and advanced manufacturing techniques
  • Solid Modeling and drawing package creation using SolidWorks
  • Communication of design concepts and document product to diverse audiences internal and external to Mercury Supporting product verification testing such as thermal, airflow, vibration, mechanical shock, humidity, and environmental stress screening
  • Driving procurement of prototype material to verify form, fit, and function
  • Drafting Test plans and Inspection reports as part of verification and validation
  • Structuring Bills of Material (BOMs/PLs), exposure to drafting and managing Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs)



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Typically requires 2+years' experience
  • Knowledge of Printed Wiring Board Assemblies design and processes
  • Understanding of heat transfer and thermal management
  • General knowledge of both conventional manufacturing techniques Experience with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks
  • Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environment
  • This position requires you to have or be able to obtain a government security clearance. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with ANSI/VITA Standards Familiarity with GD&T Proficient in SolidWorks, Creo Familiarity with Thermal Analysis Familiarity with Structural Analysis

Full-Time Equivalent Annual Salary Range: $71,300 - $142,600 for an Individual Contributor II at Torrance CA USA.

The disclosed salary range is a general guideline for Mercury team members employed at the job level at the location listed above and does not include overtime for eligible hourly employees.
