General Summary of Position
The Stewardship Officer is responsible for leading a comprehensive donor stewardship program that strengthens relationships, promotes donor retention, and communicates the impact of giving in meaningful and personalized ways. This role manages the creation of stewardship strategies, tools, and experiences that demonstrate impact and ensure donors feel valued, informed, and connected to the organization leading to increased levels of giving.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a robust stewardship strategy that supports donor retention, recognition, and long-term engagement.
  • Partners with development officers to create innovative, customized stewardship plans.
  • Serves as the internal expert and champion for stewardship best practices.
  • Oversees the timely and accurate production of gift acknowledgments, impact reports, recognition materials, and special communications.
  • Manages donor recognition programs.
  • Works cross-functionally with the communications and events team to create integrated, high-impact donor experiences.
  • Coordinates with operations to ensure accuracy and timeliness of donor information and reporting.
  • Tracks and assesses the effectiveness of stewardship efforts using KPIs and donor feedback.
  • Manages tools and systems to effectively execute and track stewardship efforts.

  • Stays informed of emerging industry trends and best practices to continuously enhance performance, innovation, and strategic decision-making.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in related field. required
    • One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

    Experience

    • 5-7 years In related philanthropy experience, ideally within a health system setting.
    • One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present and deliver information effectively; ability to interact with a wide variety of communication/work styles. Strong problem solving abilities and ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative as appropriate; high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with ability to synthesize, analyze, critique and offer recommendations; capable of handling proprietary information and working with sensitive material.

    This position has a hiring range of $80,995 - $152,027
