Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Director, Research Development and Training for the Office of Academic Affairs with the School of Public Health, located in Piscataway, NJ. The Program Director, Research Development and Training provides strategic leadership to enhance the School of Public Health's research capacity through targeted development initiatives, faculty training, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Supporting both the Assistant Dean for Research and the Vice-Dean, this role works closely with school and university leadership to identify research priorities, support faculty and trainee success, and strengthen the infrastructure needed to secure and manage extramural funding and will advance initiatives that promote excellence, equity, and impact in public health research.
Duties include:
- Partner strategically with Assistant Dean for Research and Vice-Dean to define and execute institutional researchpriorities and implement research strategies aligned to the school's strategic plan.
- Support Vice-Dean's research grant development.
- Assist the Vice-Dean, as Training Director of the Rutgers Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health (RU-SGM) with the development of training grants for pre- and post-doctoral efforts.
- Supervise, manage and direct staff.
- Provide scientific leadership and implement strategies for research advancement to expand the school'ssponsored research portfolio, including support for independent researcher and center grant development andimplementation.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Public Health, Education or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of management experience and experience involving research development, implementation and sponsored programs administration, ideally in an academic setting.
- Must have familiarity with research engines and electronic grant submission tools.
- Must have vehicle and valid driver's license for travel between campuses. Experience with mentoring and training initiatives for faculty and students.
- Knowledge and expertise of Federal and State agency regulations, policies, procedures and laws applicable to sponsoredprogram activities
- Understanding of and experience with research proposal development and implementation, funding search processes andopportunities, Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulations and other grant-related and mentoring activities.
- Must have strong Excel skills in addition to Microsoft Word, RAPSS, and familiarity with IRB and Electronic Systems.
- Must have strong writing, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Must be able to exercise a significant amount of judgment, technical expertise and professionalism.
