System Deployment Specialist

The System Deployment Specialist is responsible for selection, preparation, configuration and deployment of end-user computing devices, including laptops and desktops across the organization. This role ensures that all devices are properly imaged, updated with required software, and delivered to users efficiently. This role also includes analyzing current processes and system failures, documenting testing and finalizing improvements to deployment processes. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in SCCM, Windows 10/11, Office 365, Azure AD and familiarity with Dell laptop and desktops. This position requires attention to detail, a customer-focused mindset and proven experience in system builds, software testing, and root cause analysis.

Essential Function

• Image and configure laptops and desktops using standard deployment tools (e.g., SCCM, MDT, Intune).
• Build, test, validate and maintain baseline system images in SCCM.
• Develop and troubleshoot software packages and deployment scripts.
• Perform QA/QC checks and root cause analysis on deployment issues. This also includes testing fixes and suggesting changes and testing/validating the changes.
• Test new models of systems, including performance analysis compared to existing deployed systems.
• Test and validate new software versions, including those from acquisitions. This also includes conducting software versioning and compatibility testing/analysis.
• Coordinate deployment logistics and asset tracking across multiple sites.
• Collaborate with IT support and HR teams to ensure smooth onboarding of new employees.
• Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory and deployment status.
• Assist with device returns, reimaging, and redeployment.
• Validate, Document and update as needed deployment procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.

Required Skills and Experience

• 6+ years of experience in IT support, desktop deployment, or a similar role
• Strong knowledge of the Windows OS and deployment tools like SCCM, Intune and Ivanti
• Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, Active Directory and Group Policy and endpoint security
• Experience with scripting languages like VBScript, PowerShell, or similar
• Familiarity with computer imaging, application packaging, and deployment strategies.
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
• Proven ability to develop key performance indicators for average deployment time, number of devices deployed and documenting factors contributing to process failure
• Strong communication skills for end-user support
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deployments
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
• A commitment to continuous learning and professional development

Preferred Skills and Experience

• CompTIA A+ or similar certification
• Relevant certifications in Microsoft technologies are highly desirable
• Experience in enterprise or multi-site environments
• Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies

Work Environment

• Primarily on-site with occasional travel to satellite offices
• May require lifting and transporting equipment (up to 50 lbs)
