Position Summary/ Department Summary: Temporary maternity leave coverage
Inpatient surgical infant/toddler department
The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for supporting patients and families in our inpatient surgical infant/toddler. We are looking for an experienced CCLS to participate in therapeutic activities to support patients and their families. Working with a team of other Child Life Specialists, together the team will responsible for facilitating coping, preparation and education related to the hospital experience.

Key Responsibilities:
The Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences for patients.
  • Serving as member of multidisciplinary team.
  • Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participating in clinical training of student interns.

Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.

Experience:
General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experiencedbased knowledge.

  • Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
  • Licensure/ Certifications:
  • Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire
