Description
The Education Lead provides clinical leadership and mentoring related to advanced practice and professional development of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs and Physician Assistants (PAs) for the organization and APP department. The Education Lead serves as a liaison between the division(s),organization and Advanced Practice Provider Director. The Education Lead oversees APP onboarding to promote patient quality of care and productivity of the advanced practice provider. The lead promotes education and professional development of APPs by developing and facilitating onboarding and simulation and ensuring program education is consistent with standards and evidenced- based practice. The lead is responsible for maintaining affiliate university relationships and contracts, student placement requests and compliance. The lead provides consultation and supports APP and department leads for APP education, organizational continuing education, precepting and mentors new and experienced APPs.
The APP Education Lead is an APRN (nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist) or PA. The lead is responsible for supporting new and current APPs and APRN students. The Lead collaborates and supports APP leads and divisions for new hire onboarding, is the Education Sub council committee expert advisor and co leader to the mentorship program. The Lead provides leadership, collaboration and consultation with other organizational departments including Medical Staff, Nursing Education and Staff Development (NEPD) and Occupational Health (OH to ensure compliance requirements are met. The lead also promotes interprofessional education.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Master's Degree Master's or Doctoral degree as Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant from an accredited University (Required)
Minimum Work Experience 5 years At least 5 years of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Preferred nursing leadership experience for example as an educator, preceptor, council member or comparable positions. (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge Ability to advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise. Program development and facilitation Quality Improvement

Functional Accountabilities Strategic
- Role will work with teams that are focused on ensuring APPs are provided onboarding support for transition to practice to promote retention, patient quality and safety. Accountable for facilitating and leading onboarding and student processes, reporting assessments and making strategy recommendations to Director.
- Role will work with APP leads and teams to enhance APP transition to practice, identified continuing education needs. Accountable for reporting assessments and making strategy recommendations to Director.
- Integrate quality improvement methodology into APP education through tools, training, and hardwire principles into our organization to make processes more efficient. Accountable for reporting assessment and making strategy recommendations to Director.
- Contribute to the sustainability and advancement of nursing excellence which translates into on-going Magnet designation.
Financial Strength
- Identify opportunities for cost containment and reduction related to APPs. Supporting and facilitating a transition to practice program promotes retention and recruitment
- Accountable for organizing and maintain databases to track projects related to APP education, students, community benefit hours, onboarding and other identified educational initiatives.
- Identify new trends and anticipates broader impact. Make recommendations to Director related to trends and broader impact related to professional development.
- Prepare periodic summaries and annual report of projects, metrics, and findings for Director
Leadership
- Perform administrative and reporting responsibilities per APP department.
