Job Purpose
The Senior Supervisor, Metering Worker provides front-line leadership for field operations within Electric Maintenance and Construction in UNY. This role involves direct supervision of represented personnel, fostering a safety-focused work culture while driving business results. Key responsibilities include:
- Work Scheduling and Crew Management:Effectively manage work schedules and crew assignments to ensure efficient operations.
- Regulatory Compliance:Ensure all activities meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Customer Engagement:Address customer power quality, metering, and voltage issues to enhance service delivery.
- Workforce Development:Focus on the development and training of personnel, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Proactive Improvement Initiatives:Actively engage in driving improvements both internally and externally to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
This position is critical in maintaining high standards of safety and performance, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Key Accountabilities
- Safety Leadership:Promote National Grid's safety vision and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and safety rules to protect personnel.
- Quality Assurance:Monitor work to ensure adherence to company policies and standards, providing feedback to resolve quality issues.
- Team Collaboration:Foster a culture of teamwork and problem-solving, encouraging participation in decision-making and removing obstacles through effective communication.
- Crew Management:Collaborate with the Coordinator - Telecommunications to develop schedules and assign crews for optimal productivity.
- Collective Bargaining Compliance:Understand and enforce the collective bargaining agreement.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Regulatory Knowledge:Understand collective bargaining agreements, construction standards, safety regulations, and environmental procedures.
- Technical Proficiency:Read and interpret schematics, one-line diagrams, and circuit maps; maintain expertise in metering, voltage regulation, power quality, and relevant safety standards (OSHA, National Grid safety rules).
- Clearance and Control:Qualify for the Authorized Persons List to manage and initiate switching applications.
- Equipment Familiarity:Knowledge of Meter & Test vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Computer Skills:Proficient in utility applications, Microsoft Office, and field laptop use.
- Communication Skills:Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with a focus on active listening and effective interaction across all organizational levels.
- Financial Accountability:Understanding of corporate finance and budgeting practices.
- Problem-Solving:Apply creative problem-solving skills within a team environment.
- Team Management:Experience in managing a team, fostering respectful and effective working relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with three years of experience in metering, power quality, voltage regulation, or a related technical field, including customer service and employee supervision; or
- Associate's Degree with five years of relevant experience; or minimum of seven years of experience in metering, power quality, voltage regulation, or a similar technical field.
- Ability to work off-hours, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to 24/7 storm/outage situations, which may require travel outside the Division.
- Qualify for the Authorized Persons List to manage and initiate switching applications.

Salary: $107,000 - $126,000 This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
