Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Security Assistant located at Patrick SFB in Melbourne, FL. Astrion has worked extensively with the Department of Defense executing a Technical Management and Advisory Service contract where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients.

The Security Assistant is responsible for day-to-day management and administration of the organization's comprehensive security program, ensuring the protection of personnel, information, facilities and assets. This position requires a strong understanding of Department of Defense security instructions, policies and procedures, as well as the ability to implement and maintain effective security measures. The Security Assistant is the key advisor to the organization's Government System Security Officer (GSSO) and Director on all security-related matters and works collaboratively with the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and Cybersecurity Specialists to ensure a secure operating environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI and eventual approval for supporting Special Access Programs
  • Must an applicable master's degree and 10 years of practical experience. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense and USAF directives relative to personnel, industrial and physical security programs
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an integrated test team
  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally and possess technical writing skills
  • Must be thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Possess active TS security clearance
  • Experience administering security-focused policies, procedures and methods to protect national security information, personnel and facilities
  • Experience in developing and implementing security plans, standard operating procedures and emergency action plans
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-motivated and proactive expert able to take responsibility for identifying, organizing, coordinating, executing necessary tasks leading to the successful accomplishment of assigned duties

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Will provide direct support to the organization's GSSO, ISSM and Cybersecurity Specialist for all manner of personnel, information and facility security management activities.
  • Oversees and manages the organization's Industrial Security Program, ensuring compliance with applicable government instructions (e.g., NISPOM, SCGs).
  • Assists with Top Secret Control Office duties, to include EAL updates, Alarm Authorization Appointment updates, Intrusion Detection System Alarm testing, and Access Control Systems activity monitoring.
  • Assists the Special Security Representative/Site Security Manager with SCIF security efforts, to include daily management and administration of facility/personnel records.
  • Serves as the organization's OPSEC manager, developing and implementing OPSEC plans and procedures to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities to critical information.
  • Administers the INFOSEC program, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information systems and data.
  • Processes and manages visitor requests for both inbound and outbound personnel
  • Serves as the unit Anti-terrorism monitor, developing and implementing AT/FP measures to protect personnel and facilities.
  • Assists with management of security containers and associated access/protection mechanisms designed to ensure proper handling of sensitive materials.
  • Monitors and manages the organization's Identity, Credential and Access Management (ICAM) system, ensuring proper access controls and compliance with security policies.
  • Assists with management of the control of media, including handling, destruction and storage of classified materials.
  • Authors and maintains Emergency Action Plans (EAP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for classified facilities, ensuring they are up-to-date and in compliance with governing documents and offices.
  • Develops and implements the organization's annual training plan which includes defining what training is required and when it will be presented.
  • Ad-hoc support as required.
