What You'll Do

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a General Ledger Manager to join our team. This role plays a critical and hands-on role in maintaining the integrity of financial records for a complex, multi-entity organization with over $500 million in annual revenue. Reporting to the Controller, this position will collaborate closely with the Controller, Accounting Manager, Tax & Audit Manager, a team of accounting specialists and office managers to develop and maintain sound and consistent processes, internal controls, accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial close process and issuance of financial statements. This role requires a proactive team player with extensive corporate accounting experience, deep technical accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and ability to effectively multi-task and meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure, the general ledger software and related subledger functionality of the Company.
  • Drive the monthly, quarterly and year end close process in coordination with internal accounting team members, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Ownership of activities assigned by the Controller which include preparation, execution and review of journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, intercompany eliminations and account reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by internal accounting team, while also being prepared to step in and perform hands-on tasks as needed.
  • Work with the Controller to ensure all transactions (fixed assets, cash management, general ledger transactions, etc.) are timely and properly recorded, financial reporting deadlines are met, and goals and objectives are established and facilitated.
  • Ensure the monthly bank compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support completion of consolidation process; preparation of financial statements (consolidated and individual offices), internal management reporting and schedules related to ESOP valuation, external audits and other requirements as needed.
  • Collaborate with Controller to drive strong internal accounting controls and systems enhancements. This includes maintaining, developing and implementing new and more efficient processes and procedures including system enhancements to drive process automation throughout ensuring enhanced, efficient and consistent internal controls.
  • Participate in accounting system enhancements, report automation, analysis creation and process efficiency initiatives.
  • Partner with Controller and Tax & Audit Manager to support external audits, including FAR audit support and audit schedule preparation.
  • Assists with corporate tax (FIT and SALT) compliance and preparation to assure the accurate and timely completion of all returns.
  • Exhibit and encourage teamwork providing guidance, mentorship, and workflow management for accounting specialists, office managers and others involved in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Collections and expense-related activities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on financial and compliance-related matters.
  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned to meet business needs

Work Environment

  • Position is based in a professional office environment with optional hybrid flexibility depending on business needs.
  • Extended hours will be required particularly during monthly close and year-end periods.

What We're Looking For

Key Qualifications

  • BS degree in Accounting or related field

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a general ledger or accounting leadership role.
  • Proven experience working in a multi-entity, multiple location environment, including intercompany activities, eliminations and consolidation processes.
  • Experience in mid-to-large private or public companies ($250M+ top line revenue range) preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft office, especially with excel
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, Net Suite, or similar).
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze a large volume of data
  • Familiarity with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) audits and ESOP valuation processes is a strong plus
