Job Title: Downtown Services Technician
Department: Parks
Classification: Non- Exempt, Seasonal

Pay Range (hourly): $23.28min - $25.61/mid - $27.93/max

Position Summary:
Downtown Custodial Technicians are stewards of the downtown mall and perform essential tasks within this area throughout the summer. Teams maintain everything found in the Downtown Aspen Mall. This team operates at a high standard and year after year provides a world class environment that residents and travelers alike enjoy all year round. Use of City managed cars/trucks and work carts are supplied for transport throughout work environment. Work in a highly successful and innovative Parks Department that values proper safety guidelines and worker enjoyment. Full-time four day, part-time and possible flexible schedule opportunities available. Carpool opportunities available and for those that complete season commitment there is an end of season bonus.

Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the direct supervision of Downtown Services Field Supervisor .

Essential Job Functions:
Downtown Maintenance
* Teams maintain mall assets (trash cans, benches, playgrounds, public bathrooms etc.)
* Performs waste and litter control within the mall and public spaces
* Upkeeps of turf areas by using a variety of push and walk behind mowers
* May partner with irrigation maintenance performing system troubleshooting and operation
* Sweeping/scrubbing sidewalks, cleaning restrooms and removal of stickers/graffiti from public assets
* Daily operation of cars/trucks, electric and gas work carts
* Professional interactions with the general public occur occasionally
* Must follow proper safety guidelines and responsibility for use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

* Operational Skills: Proficient in operating a variety of equipment including push and walk-behind mowers, city-managed cars, trucks, and electric/gas work carts safely and efficiently.
* Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Skilled in performing routine maintenance tasks such as waste and litter control, graffiti removal, sidewalk sweeping/scrubbing, and basic irrigation system troubleshooting.
* Safety Awareness: Adheres strictly to City and departmental safety guidelines, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and promoting a safe working environment for self and team members.
* Teamwork & Dependability: Works collaboratively with team members and supervisors to fulfill seasonal commitments, demonstrating reliability and contributing to the Parks Department's reputation for quality service.

Essential Physical Requirements:
* Visual Acuity: Ability to bring objects into focus.
* Balancing: Maintaining equilibrium.
* Bending: Bending or position oneself to move an object from one level to another.
* Carrying: Occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Crouching: Bending body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
* Climbing: Ascending or descending stationary objects.
* Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination: Performing work through using two or more body parts or other devices.
* Gripping/Grasping: Ability to apply pressure with fingers and palm.
* Handling: Seizing, holding, grasping, through use of hands, fingers, or other means.
* Hearing: Perceiving and comprehending the nature and direction of sounds.
* Kneeling: Bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees
* Lifting: Occasionally up to 50 lbs. such as open space signs, posts, interpretive displays, bags of native seed and fertilizer, plant materials, etc.
* Pushing/Pulling: Ability to use upper extremities to exert force in order to press, draw, drag or haul objects in a sustained motion.
* Reaching: Extending the hands and arms or other device in any direction.
* Repetitive motions: Making frequent or continuous movements.
* Sitting: Remaining in a stationary position.
* Standing: Ability to sustain position for a period of time.
* Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
* Talking: Communicating ideas or exchanging information.
* Walking: Ability to move to traverse from one location to another.
