Job Functions:

The Development Coordinator is responsible for administrative support to the Advancement Team including donor research, donor communication and stewardship, special events, committee meetings, social media, marketing and office inventory, and data input. The coordinator will assist team members in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor relationships in support of the mission, vision, and goals of Metropolitan Ministries. The Coordinator serves as a member of the Advancement Team, with specific duties focused on individualized strategies for cultivation of donor relationships with a focus on retention. The Develop Coordinator is a leader in the organization and will work cross functionally with the Development Teams, and Volunteers to successfully meet or exceed the annual resource goals of the organization.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates a passion for the mission, vision, and guiding values of Metropolitan Ministries. Works in a cooperative manner with staff, volunteers, and collaborative partners to achieve the Advancement team's and organization's goals. Works collaboratively with members of the Development Cross-team Teams.
  2. Assists with Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship of advancement donors as assigned through effective moves management and strategic dashboard actions.
  3. Works with the Advancement team, key development and leadership staff, and volunteers to gather and use appropriate donor and prospect research in order to understand historical giving patterns, organizational interest, and ability to give to maximize donor relationships and provide appropriate opportunities for giving.
  4. Assists with Donor, Prospect, Campus, and Community Events including tabling expo's, special events, and speaker's bureau as needed. Professionally represents Metro and shares the mission and vision of organization effectively.
  5. Serves as administrative support to Key Fundraising Committee's including organizing meetings, presentation preparations, and set up, member communications, and meeting execution.
  6. Supports advancement team in requisitions, inventory purchases, marketing materials, and community networking notices.
  7. Helps support cross-functionally with organization data entry and special event communication.
  8. Adheres to industry, organizational, and donor policies and restrictions such as code of ethics, confidentiality, gift acceptance policies, restricted gifts, government regulations, etc. Clarifies, monitors, and implements the donor's instructions by ensuring that expenditures are appropriate and documented properly in the organization's financial records.
  9. Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals as stated on the KPI and in the annual plan. Attends required staff meetings and on-going trainings. Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree preferred, and 1-2 years of sales, nonprofit, fundraising or related experience.

Skills Requirements:

Self-motivated, ability to multi-task and manage many projects simultaneously, and shift priorities as needed. Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meets deadlines. Must be able to work independently and also be a team player. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to work, occasional evenings and early mornings, and weekends for team events. Knowledgeable with computers with a working knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other database tracking software, Web-based research tools, Microsoft Office. Ability to effectively use computer equipment: monitor, keyboard, mouse and other computer-related peripherals.

Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals. Able to be gracious to all and able to relate well to a wide spectrum of people in the community including the Board of Directors, donors, clients, and the general public. Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Must demonstrate maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity. Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. Ability to walk and climb stairs and to lift 20 lbs. Physically able to work in outdoor/temporary shelter environment considering the local climate and its normal fluctuations. Physical, emotional and spiritual stamina to handle job-related issues and stress.

Other:

Must pass applicable pre-employment screening and demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States.
